Sonic drilling uses high frequency vibration to provide amazing results in less time and with less mess. Hydraulic motors on the drilling head oscillate offset weights to create a high frequency vibration of the entire drill string. This vibration fluidizes the soil, greatly reduces friction, and allows the drill string to penetrate up to 3x faster than conventional drilling.
Direct push technologies (DPT) (often referred to as GeoProbe(R)) are a category of equipment that push or drive steel rods into the ground. They allow cost-effective, rapid sampling and data collection from unconsolidated soils and sediments. A tremendous variety of equipment is available, particularly in the type of attachments used at the end of rods to collect samples and data.
Geotechnical drilling is drilling which is often related to the construction of a structure such as a building. It can be part of the construction process as well as part of the investigation process conducted on site before the structure is built. ETD specializes in providing geotechnical drilling services, under the supervision of a geotechnical engineer who remains present to make sure that the drilling meets the needs of the project.
