David and Nancy Fairclough have been doing business as Topaz Repair & Design Studio in Maui for 34 years. Long time Maui friends and customers have watched their two children grow upright in the shop. As you can see, everyone has changed so much - except for David Fairclough - who somehow remains the same through each new photo!
Speaking of David, he is a European Trained Master Goldsmith apprenticing from the age of 14 in England. Topaz customers certainly have come to love him. Just pull him out of his little cubicle at the front of the store and he'll tell you the best places to eat, where to go, and great jokes. Many of David's exquisite creations fill the store.

Services
Topaz Repair & Design Studio is easy to reach from either Highway 31 (also know as Pi'ilani Highway) or South Kihei Road. Going south towards Wailea on Highway 31 make a right hand turn onto Alanuiu Ke Ali'i Road (past the school) and on down the hill until you come to South Kihei Road. Take a left of South Kihei Road and travel one block - past the ABC Store - until you come to 2395 S Kihei Road.
We have so many friends and customers that pass through Maui Repair & Design Studio that it is hard to keep up with them all. Here are just a few of our recent happy friends who have come in and wanted to give us a "big Aloha." A few years ago during our annual vacation to Maui, we were in need of a jewelry repair.
Topaz has been a major supporter of the "Chinese New Year Lion's Dance" event in Kihei, Maui, for 25 years and still going. Ben Sung Au is the teacher master of this club and brings to Maui the "Lions and Dancers". We would like to thank him for keeping the Chinese tradition. Your love for me, people, and what you do shows in the work you do. I cried for a good ten minutes after I opened the ring, at the beauty of it, and I (almost) couldn't believe that something so beautiful could belong to me. Thank you so much. OH MY GOSH.! I hope that downsizing will be a good thing for you ( we sure had to do that! ) and please let me know where you will be?! We aren't coming to Maui anytime soon. Maybe in the fall or next winter for sure. I just wore the BIG amethyst ring David made me, and everyone was oohing and ahhing over it!

I took my wedding ring in to get resized. They were cheaper than the jewelry stores in the mall. Plus when I went in, they were very nice and friendly.
When I picked up my ring I was very happy with their work. I would highly recommend this place plus I was told they are the only in house jeweler on Maui.

Really great service. I wasn't able to make it in during their posted hours, and they graciously waited until I could arrive after work. I was looking to resize my wedding band -- surprisingly they did it while I waited! I expected to leave it and come back. They have pretty jewelry, too. I hope to give them more business in the future.

We highly recommend these folks for jewelry repairs and/or new jewelry purchases. I trust this shop with my wife's jewelry and have had them do repairs on settings and clasps and their work is very precise and not overpriced. They always clean the items as well to restore that sparkle in the gemstones. On a recent visit, they did a quick repair on one of my wife's pendants and would not take any payment for the repair. Really nice owners of this shop with much aloha.

Recommend Topaz Jewelry Store in Kihei at Dolphin Plaza. Excellent service with jewelry repair! Very professional and reasonable prices for superb service! Just sharing after being scammed by jewelry store at Market Street in Wailuku! Bad experience. I went in during Covid and there was plexiglass everywhere, hand sanitizer outside at the door and only one customer at a time.
I found a beautiful pendant and gold chain right away.
Very helpful and very nice owners with a sweet puppy!
Parking can be challenging when tourist season is high, and this little gem of a shop is hidden away but well worth the effort.

Believe the reviews. After getting engaged in Maui, my fiancée and I visited Topaz because the ring was slightly too small and we were hoping she'd be able to wear it while we were there. Nancy walked us through the entire process and said they could do it rush. We left the ring with them and a few hours later we came back to a ring that fit perfectly. It was wonderful for her to be able to wear it out to our last dinner on the island and the following week while visiting family. David and Nancy saved the day and gave us some great recommendations on how to spend those hours while we waited

The amazing reviews are all true. I walked in on a Friday needing a new watch battery and a fix on a bracelet whose stone was loose. These guys are absolutely wonderful, incredibly professional and the work is amazing. Had my ring considerably resized and it is total perfection- seamless. And whats more is that when I got stuck at work they agreed to meet me when they were closed so I could have the ring for my engagement party. BEYOND THANKFUL!! So nice to have a local business. Would recommend them again and again.

I've been a customer of Topaz for close to 20 years. I just purchased a gorgeous pair of white gold hoops.

This review is two decades overdue. In 1998 while visiting Kihei, I came upon a small advertisement brochure. I was captivated by a 14kt gold sea turtle with small diamond eyes. Held in place by one flipper was a beautiful black Tahitian Pearl. What struck me about this particular turtle was that it had a bale on the back side of the piece so that the sea turtle appeared to be gliding through the water effortlessly. While beautiful, I knew that for every day wear I would want the piece made without the pearl. Topaz Jewelers was right across the street from our condo. Nancy greeted us warmly

David and Nancy are amazing! I just love going in to see them. They created our wedding bands...my husbands - a pretty simple gold comfort band...mine...not so simple or easy. My engagement ring is my husbands great grandmothers and is incredible old with some delicate and very detailed filigree as well as a curve to it. I wanted an all diamond wedding band to match not only the curve but the filigree as well. I AM BLOWN AWAY with David's work. I couldn't be happier. People think the set came together. David and Nancy helped my husband and I find (his) and create (mine) wedding bands within days of our wedding on Maui. We waited till we found a shop that felt right to us before and I'm so glad we did. Of course, get your orders in sooner, but if you are last minute, no stress folks like us-Nancy and David will do whatever they possibly can to accommodate you. We rushed ordered a beautiful white gold band for my husband and they re-designed my ring perfectly AND completed it in THREE DAYS! It is the best and the real jeweler on Maui. None comes close. My sapphire ear rings are beautiful, and the white gold chains I have are all very good quality. My Tag watch was well repaired. Not to mention the best service by the owners. They really are an amazing couple. I will certainly be a repeat customer for years to come.

I took my watch here to be repaired because of the great reviews on Yelp, and I have to say that they are all true. Excellent customer service. The owner could not have been nicer and more helpful. Very reasonable prices too. The shop is in the corner behind a restaurant so it's a little hard to see from the parking lot. If you are looking for excellent jewelry repair or to purchase a new piece of jewelry, be sure to go here first.

Took good care of us on our engagement ring resizing! We looked for someone who would be able to do a resizing same day so my fiance could wear her engagement ring during our vacation instead of waiting to get back to the mainland. It was sized a bit too small which is a harder resizing than if its too large. The owners asked us to bring it in and said they would have it done in 2 hours. We showed up 1.5 hrs later and it was complete and beautifully resized. Definitely recommend them!
