Large portion of açaí bowl and pitaya bowl. Both was very good. I actually liked the pitaya bowl a little more. Nice cafe with many vegan options. Ample parking plus lots of seating during the morning.

This place is pretty much exactly what you would expect it to be, and that is a good thing. We got the taro burger and the mac-nut pesto sandwich. So good! The flavor combinations were spot on, the ingredients were fresh, and the bread was perfectly toasted. While we took our food to go, we appreciated that they kept their fans on and doors open to help with ventilation. Also, super lovely music selection - discovered some beautiful mellow reggae-ish songs while waiting for our order.

I stopped by this cafe because I was looking for somewhere casual and healthy to eat for a late afternoon lunch and Sweet Cane Cafe fit the bill, with great reviews as well. There's plenty of parking and seating both inside and outside.

I ordered the Macadamia Nut Pesto Sandwich and a Large Acai Bowl to split with my boyfriend. You can choose which side you want with your sandwich and I got the "poke", which was made from ulu and taro. The sandwich was decent, but missing an extra bit of oomph for flavor - it was a bit one-dimensional. I really like the "poke" and thought

We bought sandwiches here for our trip to the National Park. The food was ok--didn't travel as well as maybe if we'd had them fresh. That said, the spicy peppers sandwich was flavorful. My husband's Mediterranean sandwich was big and unwieldy. The flavor of the pesto was very good. My kids got grilled cheeses that would have been better warm but that's our fault!
It was great to go to an all vegetarian cafe--I love that they're so ubiquitous in Hawaii!

This was such a worth it place. We ordered the bagel which came with a side, we got their vegan poke, which I really enjoyed. The bagel came with cream cheese avocado tomato and sprouts. Delicious bagel and the bagel itself was really healthy feeling(ingredients wise). We also got sugarcane juice which was a must !! The açaí bowl was really good and I recommend adding some extra honey, definitely very unique! Finally we got the banana pancake, made with buckwheat. My advice is to pour the maple syrup on top and the pancake will soak it right up, otherwise it may taste bland!

Overall great meal

In concept, I love this place. In practice, it's been mildly disappointing twice in a row. I found it not worth the meh service and prices -- unimaginative kale salads, pizzas, and GF baked goods.

This is a local spot, that supports island agriculture, which is great -- so if you're visiting, you might like that vibe.

Everything was tasty. The smoothies and sugarcane was the highlight.
Should try this place.
Black bean burger was not the regular type, taste-wise. It was more on the healthier side.

Decent selection of vegetarian dishes, but the taste of the beans burger was too one dimensional. Tasty sauerkraut though.

Sweet cane cafe is not just a restaurant, it's an experience. The seating area is spacious, bright and filled with light. They have outdoor seats too and the entire cafe is very well maintained.
We had their burger bowl specials with the chickpea and ulu burgers. Both tasted good but lacked texture; too mushy and soft for me. The bowls came with a simple salad and house hummus so they were very filling. I got the durian smoothie and my friends did the wellness shots. Both burst with natural and refreshing flavors! I highly recommend the shots to wake up your tired body after a long

Ive enjoyed eating at Sweet Cane for over five years but I noticed some pretty drastic changes in 2021.

Though the staff are still incredibly kind, a big reason why I've consistently tipped them, they have lost my order 3 times, they have waited on average 15 to 20 minutes to let me know that an item was sold out at least 3 times, and more times than not my order has taken at least 25 minutes (for smoothies, poke bowls, fritters, etc) even when there were 3-4 people waiting and about 6-8 people in the kitchen. I'm fairly certain their owner has been present at least 2/7 times these

Wonderful cafe off of the main Kilauea Avenue. Spacious and well lit inside, plenty of parking out front/side, plus more behind the building.
Food was delicious, service was fast and friendly. Open style kitchen, you can see your food being prepared.

This place was such a great find! Plenty of vegan options and lots of seating too! I got the ulu and taro poke bowl which was so ono and filling! I could only eat half and saved the rest for later.
I loved that they also had a wide variety of pre-made desserts that you can choose from. They all looked so delicious but we decided on the lilikoi haupia sweet potato pie... and that decision my friend, is one we do not regret! The textures were on point and the balance of sweetness from the haupia and ube went perfectly with the tartness of the lilikoi !!

I definitely hope to come back on my next

Such a nice locally-owned place in Hilo for some great vegetarian/vegan options. They are a little pricey, but it is worth it--you get local, organic ingredients and freshly-made food, baked goods, and smoothies that are AMAZING! Some of my favorite baked goods include their vegan/GF chocolate chip cookies and banana bread. For lunch, the Hungry Farmer or the Havarti grilled cheese sandwich are my go-to menu items. And last, but not least, the SMOOTHIES... Blue Crush is my all-time favorite. Check out their online menu and ordering, too!

If you are looking for healthy options, this place is IT. Everything here is so freshly prepared, the salad, the goat cheese( the very best I tasted so far), the sandwiches, the desserts and the BEST of all … their cane juice. Indulge at this place as much as you can. We came to HILO just for this cafe.
The staff are so friendly, the price is reasonable and it’s such a charming place… fresh flowers are everywhere. I appreciate the details that not only they add to the foods that they make but the ambiance as well. One shall not missed.

First of all, vegan/vegetarian restaurants are not for me, but I was meeting someone who invited me out to lunch. I love acai bowls so I ordered that. Kudos for it being a huge portion and I couldn't actually finish it. But the ingredients consisted of 17 gallons of acai, some granola and some sliced bananas. Safe to say, the acai bowl underperformed, although I did enjoy it.
Everything is fresh and local so that part is great. I didn't really feel welcome and I'm not sure why. The person I came with felt equally awkward. Suffice it to say that I don't plan to ever return

Love love love this place! It has all the right words listed on their menu... vegetarian/vegan - gluten free... mmmmmmmmm. THANK YOU.

While on the Big Island, I went twice!

I got the Hungry Farmer with the chipotle black bean patty and the smoky taro patty. Mmmmm SOOO good. The patties here are not patties that are trying to mock a real burger patty. These patties are packed with veggie flavors that burst in your mouth. So good. I couldn't decide on which was better. The Hungry Farmer is the way to good if you're indecisive. LoL.

My GF got the tacos since it was Taco Tuesday and

To have these many vegetarian and vegan options on the menu makes this place a heaven for vegetarians.

We ordered the coconut mocha, the mango bliss, the Mediterranean sandwich and the chickpea burger and they all tasted out of this world! We went on a Friday morning and it was FCFS, there was no online reservation required. It was fairly busy but we were able to find a table within minutes.
