The Widows Home of Dayton is a special place where men and women from all over the Miami Valley come for short-stay rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care. A nonprofit organization driven by a mission to help people enjoy healthy and fulfilling lives since 1872, we provide a comfortable, welcoming environment where everyone can feel at home.

And because our resident and family satisfaction ratings place us among the top 10% of nursing homes in the state of Ohio, it's easy to see that our proud tradition of caring is still going strong today. When the Widows Home of Dayton began in 1872, its mission was to provide a residence for widows of Civil War Soldiers.
Services
We have a proud history that spans three centuries and has touched generations of families throughout the Miami Valley. During that time, a tradition of caring has been established that truly sets us apart from other skilled nursing and rehab facilities in the area.

We owe so much to the people who have shaped our organization over the years, but we understand that with that gratitude comes a responsibility to carry their dedication to improving lives forward into the future.
We want to make the transition to our community as easy as possible for you and your family. So whether you need to be admitted for rehab following a hospital stay, or if a family member needs to make the move from home care to a skilled nursing center, we will do anything we can to help. For starters, we understand that life doesn't always follow a schedule, so we accept admissions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We invite you to tour our campus and experience the Widows Home difference for yourself. To schedule a tour, please give us a call at (937) 252-1661. We look forward to showing you all the great things we have to offer! We would like you to view our short video, highlighting the history and the significance of the Widows Home to our residents and our community.
Our long-term skilled nursing services are delivered by compassionate, experienced caregivers who always put the needs of our residents first. We take great care of men and women from all over the Miami Valley and truly think of them as family and friends. We do everything we can to make them feel at home, and 98% of our residents say they are happy with their care environment-a full 7% higher than the state average.
Our Rapid Rehab program is the perfect alternative to inpatient hospital rehab. Our staff of certified rehab specialists will work with your doctor to create an intensive, personalized therapy program that will get you back home and doing the things you love as quickly as possible.

We give you access to a full range of the latest rehab equipment and methodologies, as well as the comfortable atmosphere of our short-stay rehab suites that'll make you feel right at home as you work to get back to everyday life.If you know you will need rehab following a planned surgery or other procedure, you can take part in our Prehab Program that will make the transition following your hospital stay even easier.

The physical therapist here is extremely rude, interrupting other workers, and not being considerate to the residents of Widows Home. Despite this being a location primarily for rehab, would not recommend.

My mother in law has been there a couple of times after being hospitalized. They won't get her to the bathroom before she messes herself, then wait hours to help her after she messes herself. They're no help to her if she wants to get up and move around. (Her primary stay has been for rehabilitation). She comes out worse than when she went in.

I'm so glad to hear that this place is on top of COVID.
My friend was there
Unfortunately when he went in hospital, they didn't want him back.
He then was put in Woodglen Alzheimer's place. Which he didn't have this. He had vascular dementia
He passed away July 25, 2020 from COVID
.
GOD BLESS

Dont let your loved one stay here. The Widows Administration and Doctors dont listen to their patients. The nursing staff complains about answering call lights. The facility reaks of urine. Widows discharged my mother after 5pm. The facility told my father he had 1 hour to collect her things. He basically had to carry my double amputee mother out with her belongings with no help from staff. My mother arrived at this facility by transport she should have left the same way. Lastly the Director of Nursing prefers to be called "PooNanny." When i asked for her name thats what her response was......

Do not stay or let anyone you care about stay at this facility.
First of all, their staff has stolen food that was purchased and was in a secured staff area. When i talk to other patients, they told me of finding money and other things stolen from their rooms.

And don't complain. Then they will do little to help you and try to expedite you leaving the facility. And when they do receive orders to extend your stay, they lie and don't tell you they received the paperwork.

Also, they are not very timely on giving you the proper medications. I am on pain medication for a chronic back issue

My mom's been at the Widows Home for a year this month. She has Alzheimer's, and I transferred her here from Woodglen; best thing I could have done. Much cleaner and nicer place all the way around. The staff seem much happier here, a big plus. The food is much better, the place is cleaner, and there's more sunlight. There is a smaller mixed population, and the residents who are able seem to look out for each other. Mom seems happier and fits in well. I'd highly recommend the Widows Home.

The Widows home is not where you want to go for rehab. They have a rehab wing but they also keep long-termed patients there that can't get along in their own area. These patients have harassed me as well as call me names. They get special perks that others don't and thwn brag about it. Please don't come here for rehab.

This place is horrible I would not want anybody's family member to stay here. My husband's mother has been living there for almost a year. They visited her today on mother's day and she need to use the restroom and they called for a nurse 3 times, then my husband had to go find some one that didn't help. Finally a nurse did show up after a half hour to 45 minutes. Please do not send your loved ones here we are in the process of moving her but it's hard due to her income.

My mother was transferred there after falling for rehab. She really needed a new hip, but medicaid isn't helping. The care she got during rehab, convinced me that this was a good place for her to stay. She has dementia- and they don't segregate the dementia/alzheimers patients- so it's a more normal environment. She seems to be doing well, the staff is very helpful, the place is clean, and I've been very happy with the care she's received.
