My 2nd grade photo was a huge impetus for me to do what I do. No one should have a photo like this on their parent's wall for 30+ years. My hair didn't look like this (thank you Mrs. Blackmore for forcing me to comb it seconds before I was ordered to "Say Cheese") and I only wore that super hot and scratchy polyester shirt when I was forced to.

This photo isn't me. The experience I offer is the exact opposite of what I had that day. I'll do everything I can to make you feel at ease, we will meet in a location you and your family enjoy, I will never demand a smile, and I promise I won't hand you a little black comb and force you to use it.

This is the photo that started it all, a snap I took in Jr. High, of my grandfather during a break from cleaning out a chicken coop. I love it because it perfectly encapsulates who he was, the twinkle in his eye, no teeth smile, and dust on his hat.

There is so much history and many memories in this one frame; the hours I spent in the hay mow in the barn behind him and the treasures I found in the small stone milk house that once stored the day's milk yield for collection but now held decades of wonderful, random junk. The feelings of love and nostalgia I get when I look at this photo is what I strive to give my clients.
The Michelle Daniel Photography experience begins with a pre-meeting to discuss wardrobe, special considerations, location and expectations. If we are having a session at your home, I may ask to come by beforehand around the time of our scheduled shoot, to scope out lighting and settings and meet little ones who may be shy with strangers; anything to make our official time together go smoothly.
I was really annoyed by the masks I've been wearing. When I talked or took a deep breath the mask would suck in and make it harder to do either. During photo sessions that wasn't acceptable so I went down a YouTube rabbit hole watching mask makers in action, took what I liked from here and there, and made dozens of prototypes until I finally settled on this system and design.
