As a small retail custom drapery workshop owner of 40 years it has been my privilege to create beautiful window treatments for a variety of homeowners. In 1999, after completing the interior treatments of one of my clients, they asked me to solve another more challenging problem they had. They wanted a covering for their screen porch that could be installed on the outside of the porch, but would be easy to operate from the inside.
As a lover of historic homes this installation was very rewarding. Without Weather Queen Shades the elements would damage both the porch and interior furnishings of this wonderful historic cottage. The motorization makes it even easier to raise or lower shades either individually or collectively. It can also be incorporated into a "smart home" system.
Weather Queen Exterior Screen Porch Shades have been protecting screen porches for over 14 years in Northwestern Wisconsin. We now are also protecting screen porches in Minnesota, Upstate New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. The purpose of our patented shade system is to make screen porches into the easy care outdoor living space they are meant to be.
My wife and I extensively researched all our options in order to find a window shade system that would both protect the investment in our porch and aesthetically complement our home. Our research paid off! When I spoke to Carla on the phone I could tell that she took enormous pride in her product and that she would make sure we were happy with the results.
Weather Queen Shades are a precision system designed to give long term protection and beauty to your screen porch. Each shade is custom fabricated to meet the unique requirements of your porch. For example an opening 54" wide x 84" would cost between $1,100 up to$1,300, depending on the Sunbrella Awning and Marine fabric chosen and extra hardware required for the installation.

We have now completed our 2nd installation of Weather Queen Shades at our vacation home in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. They are absolutely the best shades and they do exactly what they are intended to do - protect our screen-in porch in-between our visits and allow us to enjoy our porch when we are there. They look beautiful and best of all, the owner, Carla, stands behind her product 100%. She is a pleasure to work with !

I can’t say enough! My WeatherQueen shades are elegant, durable and utilitarian. As I live on the south shore of Lake Superior with all its beauty and sometimes inclement and unpredictable weather, I can now extend the use of my screen porch in the Spring and the Fall. The shades keep the porch so much cleaner - an added plus! As for durability, we recently experienced a severe storm with winds clocked at 100 knots - I lost 15+ trees, a shingle or 2, and some prized potted plants, but the WeatherQueen shades look and function like the day they were installed.
