Services
Hidden away in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, a trip to Winter Greenhouse is well worth the drive. Here you can experience the beauty and serenity of rural Wisconsin, and still benefit from the huge selection of high quality plants and new products usually found only in larger cities. The Greenhouse started over 35 years ago with a group of Danish, German and Canadian immigrants.
In spring a lot of time is spent behind a hose watering and feeding thousands of plants and baskets. This year we added drip irrigation in all houses. Watering hundreds of hanging baskets every day takes a toll on the neck and shoulders over time and this improvement will be much appreciated by all staff.
This free, printed catalog is meant for our in-store customers. You find the PDF here. We will happily send this printed catalog to anyone who is intending to visit us here at our greenhouse and nursery. Otherwise we greatly appreciate your utilizing our online version, which is always current and updated.
A compact habit with upright stems bearing large yellow flowers with red hues that fade to pink. Good drought tolerance once established. Avoid wet soils. The blue-green foliage is twisty and the nodding buds look like snake heads before they lift up and open to a 2 light amethyst bloom. First year flowering, deliciously edible and highly ornamental, all three colors are uniform in height and flowering time, with good sturdy leaf blades.
It took years to develop this improved, most fragrant version of the unique Abelia mosanensis, but it was worth the wait. Being the hardiest abelia yet, it offers superior production, more colorful flowers, and an improved elegant habit. Jasmine-scented white and pink blooms adorn the arching branches in mid-late spring - you simply must smell them to believe their fragrance.

Not only is this a beautiful greenhouse and show gardens, that is as much a destination in the area as any other spot... but they have WONDERFUL customer service. I needed flowers to be sent to my mother-in-law, who lives in Winter, and no area florist would deliver to them. But Ashley worked with me (on the phone) and put together a beautiful arrangement of flowers that my mother in law LOVED. Thank you Winter Greenhouse!
