Originally built as a Dairy Dell Diner in the 1940's, the Sugar Pine Cafe is located on the main road through Downtown Mariposa, just across from the Grizzly gas station. Mariposa is en route to Yosemite when using the highway 140 entrance to the park, perhaps the most scenic of ways to arrive in Yosemite.
Travel to the park in winter is hassle free on Highway 140, the 'all weather highway.' Off-street parking is available, and the cafe offers comfortable booth seating as well as a classic diner counter with stools. We pride ourselves on making your food from scratch here at the cafe, where the baker arrives early in the morning to prepare the day's scones, turnovers, muffins and other tasty bakery goods.

We had breakfast in this cute friendly diner multiple times. Each time we were made very welcome by the whole staff which is something we value a lot. Even when the place was very busy they would take a second to check on all their customers and ask about their day etc. Typical diner style menu, good coffee and prices as expected. Can get very busy in the mornings, open until right after lunch with a seperate lunch menu. The highlight here is the excellent friendly customer service and the fresh Scones :) highly recommended!

Came through Mariposa on our way back from Yosemite and looking for good biscuits. We were thrilled to find this busy location with great food. Scones were delicious and biscuits fluffy and great. Excellent breakfast. Great crew even though they were short staffed with the holiday weekend. We will be back!

Had coffee, eggs, bacon, and French toast stuffed with berries. The eggs, bacon, were excellent. Even though the stuffed French toast was too sweet and tart for my taste, I recognize its high quality and would recommend it to those who enjoy highly sweet and tart food. I will just get the regular French toast next time. The service made me feel cared for. I will eat here whenever I am in the area and I would recommend it to anyone.

Went here twice for breakfast and I was not disappointed. My friends and I ordered chorizo breakfast tacos (Saturday special), chicken fried steak, waffles side of apple sausage, steak, biscuits and gravy, and French toast. We haven't had a single complaint with the food yet. Had scones from Critters and Coffee that bought it from this place as well that was really good. If you're on your way to Yosemite and want to stop for breakfast this is where you wanna go.
Really nice staff, and I've heard this place gets really busy.
If I have any criticisms is not a ton of parking if you come later, and

We stopped by hoping for a quick breakfast before we headed to Yosemite. We got there at 7:40, just 10 minutes after they opened, and they were already crowded. I would suggest getting there right when they open because by 8:00, there was a wait.
Here’s what we got:
- Two Eggs with Bacon ($11.75): Very average.
- Omelet with Tomatoes & Cheese ($12.50): Less than average.
Both meals came with hashbrowns and we chose a biscuit. The hashbrowns were eh. The biscuit was overdone.
The service was terrible. It took a while before we even had the chance to ask for water. It took over 30 minutes

We stayed really close by and woke up hungry and this restaurant happened to be connected to the Airbnb we stayed at. The menu is not extensive ...eggs, meat, toast, juice etc but that to me makes for great food that is so simple yet just hits the spot.
We ate here twice and the service was great, the food came out quickly and the team does a great job of making you feel safe. We had and omelette, a scramble, biscuits with gravy and a side of biscuits. I highly recommend trying the desserts and biscuits at this restaurant as they were delicious. We were fortunate to try the baked goods at

It's a must breakfast stop, the house specials waffles with eggs with choices of bacon, sauces or ham. I would come back again and bring others to your place. Thank you for the great service with a smile, and pleasant personality of waiter Justin, makes it a wonderful choice to have breakfast with everyone.

Hidden Gem! Stop here for a famously unique “Omlerrito”! They take well known omelette’s like the Denver and make them into burritos. I recommend the crispy bacon, mushroom, green onion and artichoke aioli one. Hash browns included in it as well, all for a reasonable price! Remember to tell them #OuttaTownTony sent you!

We came here on a Monday morning at 9 am and there was only one other table that was occupied. We were immediately seated and we were not made aware of any wait list as mentioned in previous reviews. The guy that waited on us was SO nice. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We had the biscuits and gravy with a side of ham and hash browns. Everything was great. It was filling, delicious diner food which is exactly what we wanted.

Let’s start with the best part of the experience, which is Justin’s amazing service. As soon as we walked in, we felt at home. Then came the food. Justin recommended we try the biscuits, and they are AMAZING! Actually, everything was delicious, reasonably priced and… DELICIOUS!
Thank you, Sugar Pine family, for making our visit to this part of NorCal that much more magical. See you again soon!

Oh. My. Goodness. This place was so good! After a disappointing breakfast at our hotel restaurant the night before we decided to try something on our way out of Yosemite and back home. I am so glad we came here.
It's a small diner and when it's non-COVID times it appears you can sit at the counter and watch the cooks work their magic.
I had a half order of biscuits and gravy with a side order of 2 fried eggs. My mom and uncle had oatmeal and lemon scones, and my aunt had an omelette. Their biscuits were fresh made as were their pastries- both sooo good. They also serve peets coffee

We stayed nearby this past weekend and stopped by to grab breakfast because we saw they had biscuits and gravy. The place looks so unassuming when you're passing by on CA-140 so thank goodness for Yelp. We did a quick search and saw that they're well known for their biscuits and other baked goods. We love us some biscuits and gravy! The guy (who runs this place, I think) proudly told me his wife bakes all their pastries from scratch. He was so friendly and just made me feel welcome.
