Holston Presbytery Camp & Retreat Center
Our mission invites all people to experience a transformation of mind, body, and spirit as they engage in a community of faith, recognizing grace through our transcendent God, and seeking greater understanding of themselves, others, and the environment. Offer informative programs and safe activities designed to stimulate creativity, inspire thought, and value God's creation.

Ours is a tradition of small group camping with a big group plan. We encourage campers to embark on a journey of the mind, body and spirit. It's a journey that requires a knapsack that we supply with independence, self-reliance, curiosity, creativity, and faith. We learn to work, play, sing, and worship together.
Services
Since 1959, Holston has conducted an "experiment in an outdoor Christian community." The goal is to offer youth the opportunity to seek God while building nurturing relationships and having fun outdoors. We encourage campers to "unplug" for the week and listen to the sounds of the wind in the trees, the mountain birds, and the rushing creek.
Holston Bummer Day Camp is the place for friends, fun, and faith. All Day Campers are exposed to many of the same summer camp activities as the resident campers: swimming, canoeing, archery, zip-lines, rock climbing, hiking, morning worship, and field games. We employ and train college-age counselors to provide guidance and care for our kids.
Since it's inception, Holston has specialized in small-group, family-style camping. Because our summer camps are typically smaller than most, campers and staff form intimate relationships with one another and God. We take time to talk and listen to each other and creation. We also take time to listen for God's voice during our worship service and while we stand in awe of God's beautiful creation here at summer camp.
Please read our frequently asked questions below and view the Resident Camp Guidebook and Checklist for information about summer overnight camp and our Day Camp Guidebook for Boomer Day Camp information. Contact the office with questions. HPCRC is following all guidelines and suggestions made by the American Camping Association and the CDC.
Our desire is to minister to children and families by offering financial assistance to offset a portion of the tuition. Grant assistance is limited and awarded based on a variety of factors, including annual household income, number of children in the home, extenuating circumstances and previous scholarship assistance received.

My kids love the summer camps at Holston. Incredible on every level, and a highlight of their summer. Zip lining, canoeing, hiking, games like Capture the Flag--just like the summer camps they had in ye olden days when I was growing up. Highly recommend!

Against my will, my parents made me go to this camp the summer before junior high. Afterwards I asked to go back year after year, and as my age advanced so did the activities. An astonishingly wonderful camp. For those who are taking advantage of its outstanding location and idyllic grounds, know that, if you meet members of the staff, you’re talking with special people who watch over a very special place.

A great camp to learn, grow and have Fun.
My daughter asked about going away to camp and this was a perfect fit. Local to our family and with a steller reputation, Holston truly fit the bill. She had a wonderful time, loved the hikes and all the shared experiences. She even enjoyed team cooking and learning how to become more independent and resourceful.

I sent my daughter there with high expectations due to the reviews . I still can't believe the conditions of the places where the kids have to stay. The bathrooms were filled with spiders and cockaroaches. There were a few injured kids throughout the camp. My daughter injured her ankle and cried a lot. She had to wait 20 minutes to get "a bag of ice" which turned out to be a cool pak that wasn't even cold. The pain was strong. There was nothing she could do about it, no lights, no ice, all they gave her was pills, and they gave her 5 at a time. I later found out that her and the other "crimpled
