Born in San Francisco's Tenderloin district, the loin is not only a brand, but also a screen print shop. The shop uses the most earth-friendly materials and methods available. The two-man operation offers high-quality, custom handprinted goods such as t-shirts, posters, and messenger bags. Inspired by the underbelly of their Tenderloin surroundings, the loin infuses art, culture, and experimentation into their work.
They are artists, mavericks, and when they are not working, they can be seen mashing around self-propelled style all over San Francisco. Their work consists of clean lines, bright colors, compelling artist collaborations, lots of hard work and attention to detail.

As a store, this place is cool with the merchandise offered. As a gallery, from the artists side, leaves a little bit to be desired. My partner recently showcases a few pieces here and was told that he would receive his compensation on a specific date at the end of the showing, perfectly understandable.... Except the show has been over for a week now and not only has the owner been hard to get in touch with, informed my partner that it will be another week before he will be paid for his art. I understand it is one person running everything, however since he knows he is but one man should maybe

Tucked in a tiny space on Larkin just north of Geary, The Loin is a neat little clothing shop and art space. I was most interested in their t-shirts so I didn't even really take a look at the art hanging on the walls (next time).
I love the Tenderloin and it has a special place in my heart. Having worked there providing health care to a much marginalized population, I'm always proud to sport some Tenderloin-related gear. So, I was more than happy to plunk down 30 bones for my Tenderloin Friends Club t-shirt. It's awesome!
