Shelby Williams comes to us with over 18 years experience in ophthalmology and optical. Prior to joining Chang Eye Group, she served as a Practice Manager of a large medical practice. She is American Board of Opticianry and COA certified. Shelby received her bachelor's degree from Robert Morris University in Business Administration.
Here's what our customers have been saying about us! My first visit was today and after 7 years of no eye doctor appointments. I tend to dread going in to exams, but right in the door I felt at ease the ladies at the front desk were very welcoming. Everyone I came in contact with was very nice and comforting.
Appointments are not required for visiting the optical shop; however, eye exams are by appointment only and are handled through our medical office. Our Peters' Township staff is available to answer any questions you may have as well as for optical dispensing, setting appointments, and of course shopping for new glasses!
At Chang Eye Group, we have all of the "three O's" on staff. Each professional has a specific role to play in your eye health and vision care. An Ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who has completed training as an eye surgeon. An ophthalmologist will perform cataract surgeries and other eye surgeries, treat eye injuries, and detect and manage serious medical eye conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration.
Alexander Chang, M.D., has been practicing in the South Hills area for over 30 years. He earned his Bachelor's degree at Case Western Reserve University in 1972, majoring in Chemistry graduating Phi Beta Kappa. He also earned his Medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1976 and completed his internship there.

The Chang Eye Group are very professional in my opinion. Dr. Molly Proud is excellent. I have tried for several years to wear contacts again & the place I was going to just could never get it right. Dr. Proud got it right the first time. Very pleased!! My glasses that I bought here are excellent!! I can see again without taking my glasses off to read. I was told I needed progressive lenses at the place I used to go to and for years now I never had them & paid for them. So glad I switched to Chang eye group. Thank you thank you thank you!

While my mother was in the back room for her eye exam the front desk staff started making fun of her while I was sitting in the waiting room! She’s developed a bad infection from improper exams and ill fitting lenses from the Chang group and she’s now on her 6th visit with no resolution. I’ve been sitting here for over an hour and can hear how poorly they speak and interact with every patient. Go elsewhere, condescending attitudes and incompetent staff from the front desk to the doctors.

We have only been coming for 11 months. Seven members in our family. All but two wear glasses. Some members have insurance some don't so we pay cash. The insurance is from the county for medical reasons, not because of financial issues. Yet this place really has no bedside manner and treats you like you're not worthy given the insurance we may have. Mind you they had no problem with cash.
I offered to pay cash for glasses rather than only be allowed certain frames and one person told us we only had to pay the difference where's as another lady told us she obviously didn't know

The practice has been run very badly lately. Had a very bad experience with them. Both of me and my son had an appointment together. My son came in and gave both of our names to the receptionist. After waiting in their waiting room for 15 min while the receptionist was chilling on the other side and could see me clearly told me Oh we cannot take you now after 15 min of knowing that I am in their waiting area and gave me the reason that because you did not come up to me and checked in. Well excuse me my son did so if it was not acceptable this is your job to clarify and I heard her before saying

If you have a complaint with the office staff at the Greentree location, be prepared for snippiness and half-baked explanations and then to be hung up on the phone. I am required in Google to give them a star or else I can't post. They hardly deserve that. Brutal and unprofessional approach. Just don't complain. They really, really don't like it. Stay in line.
The response from the owner should include an apology or a commitment to make it better for me and directly to me. A little personal customer service goes a long way. No phones there? Can't make a call? This is why I had to post online.

If I had a million dollars, I'd give it to CATHY KLETTE of the Greentree office, and it is what you should be giving her! She went way beyond her job to help me, and to be honest, if she did'nt help me, I would've been long gone! I went through 2 other women there, they could care less about the needs of others. Cathy helped me to get my glasses right through her wonderful knowledge and the labs help, it took a couple of months, but she did it, and I am very pleased with the results. PLEASE GIVE HER THE RECOGNITION SHE DESERVES. You may use my name as well, thank you, Shari N.

I recently returned for a checkup after my last visit which was four years ago. I was pleased to see they were able to pick up right where they left off as they were able to compare a new photo of my optical nerve to one they had taken four years ago as they monitored my risk for glaucoma.
The front desk was friendly and I felt safe with all of the precautions they had in place related to the pandemic.

I went in because my daughters and I have a rare muscle syndrome. Dr. Chang had operated on me years ago and I wanted his advice as a second opinion as to what to do with my kids who have it. He didn't even sit down, he left the door opened, looked at my daughter for two seconds and literally said, "she's fine. She doesn't have it. You should take her to a pediatric clinic. Why are you even here? (I explained). I didn't operate on you. (Yes you did....etc) If you're so curious, go to the hospital. You expect me to remember your surgery? I operate on older people now

The exam I received was incompetent and despite being previously told that there would be no fee due when I asked, I received a bill for these exceptionally substandard services that I immediately needed to have remedied elsewhere.
The practice then spent months sending disputed bills without responding to inquiries about them. Moreover the billing coordinator is untenably rude and dismissive of any such concerns, but only once she actually responds to you, which could take weeks.
This was the single worst eye exam experience I have ever had. Avoid this practice under any circumstances.

I was looking for a place to buy glasses. I tried several times to go the location in Peters Township. However, every time I stopped they were closed. The hours on the website indicated they were open until 5:00. When I arrived at 4:30 they were closed. They are also closed on Wednesday. But on a good note I did finally get in and everyone was very nice. I did not need a eye exam just new glasses. The lady who helped me was wonderful she gave me her expert opinion which truly helped. I was selecting the wrong styles they were not the proper size for my face. She quickly steered me in the right

I have been going to Chang Eye Group for many years .. They have been observing my condition for quite awhile . I really do love Dr. Chang however every time I go I have to spend so much time there .. At least 2 hours waiting .. But My major complaint is BILLING ! You can never speak to anyone .. Sometimes they call you back (so you can pay your bill ) My last experience was to find out how much a procedure was going to cost .. After being spoken to very rudely I was advised that it would be $400. An eye ! I was charged $500. An eye ???? Guess what I am still waiting for my call back after leaving

Allow about 90 min to 2 hours for a vision exam.
I'm a regular customer so I plan for it.
Not many mirrors and none full length to try on new frames. Do some research on what types of lenses or features you may want. There are many options and the sales staff generally just give you what you had before so you might miss out on newer lenses or treatments. They don't use any measuring devices other than a marker and ruler.
I saw there are some eyeglass stores that actually take your picture on a monitor so you can put your prescription glasses on and see yourself. It's hard to pick

I've come here twice, and both times there was a long wait, for a routine appt scheduled more than one month in advance. Last time I actually saw the doctor I hour and 5 minutes after my scheduled appt time. Then waited in the waiting room for 35 minutes after being given the dilation drops (I don't believe it takes that long for the drops to work, but I'm no expert.) The optometrist was nice, and seemed to be thorough, although hurried.
The selection of glasses is pretty big, however, and the staff handling the ordering, sizing, and fitting were helpful and professional,
