The Madison Herb Society is dedicated, as a non-profit organization, to the education of its members and the general public with regard to the culture and use of herbs. In the past, this organization was involved in the planning, maintenance and use of the Herb Garden at Olbrich Botanical Gardens and continues to contribute funds annually to its preservation.
Regular workshops, seminars, lectures, and demonstrations provide a forum for exchange of interests, ideas, and knowledge regarding herbs. The quarterly MHS newsletter and monthly announcements keep MHS members in touch with upcoming events, articles regarding the culinary and wellness use of herbs, as well as decorative projects.

Membership is open to any interested individual, organization or business. Members may attend all membership meetings of the Society, receive newsletters, vote on official business, hold office and participate in activities sponsored by the Society. A membership held in the name of an organization or business has the rights commensurate with those of one individual.
The Madison Herb Society partners with several Madison-area organizations to further promote the use of herbs in gardening, culinary and wellness uses. In the past 38 years, the Madison Herb Society has donated more than $30,000 to support Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Yearly, some members help decorate the wreaths that adorn the entry pillars and memory walk.
