Services
Winnebago Landfill Company started out in 1972. Since then, we have grown into one of the most respected solid waste companies in the Midwest. We have safely and responsibly provided solid waste disposal and recycling services at our location in southern Winnebago County. Honoring our commitments provides our stakeholders peace of mind and establishes us as the premier waste services company in the markets we serve.
We are constantly monitoring the efficiency of our collection and control system and always looking at ways to improve and enhance the process. We installed an additional landfill gas collection flare and blower system which increased our gas collection capacity by over 60%. We installed a state-of-the-art Vapor-Phase Odor Control System, which is specifically designed to neutralize landfill gas odors that come in contact with the vapor.
Winnebago Landfill Company offers two landfill locations that provide responsible and convenient waste disposal. Winnebago Landfill is located just west of I-39 at the Baxter Road exit; Rochelle Landfill is slightly east of I-39 at the I-38 exit. Both landfills are totally committed to safe and efficient solid waste disposal and recycling.
The Rock Valley Compost Facility only accepts landscape waste. This includes grass clippings, weeds, tree trimmings, and stumps. All bagged landscape waste needs to be in paper landscape bags, landscape waste in plastic bags is not accepted. Food waste, refuse, rocks and all other non-landscape compostable materials are not accepted.
Winnebago Landfill Company has been providing safe and responsible solid waste disposal for nearly 50 years. With our sister companies, we have built a network of additional landfills, multiple transfer stations, recycling facilities and composting operations to serve northern Illinois from Lake Michigan to Iowa.

FYI- they did up the charge to a $50 minimum for regular yard waste brought in a bag. I can't imagine filling my van up enough to warrant the charge so not sure what your average homeowner is supposed to do with their yard waste now if you aren't allowed to burn either. Too bad since it was a reasonable cost and way of getting rid of waste that people probably will let sit in their yards now attracting critters.

For years we have taken 12-15 or more large bags of leaves to the center on Baxter, and after weighing the cost was usually $10 which I often had to pay more than one trip in my SUV! Last year some pencil pushing bureaucrat decided there should be an unconscionable, minimum charge of $50 which means it would cost me $100+ to deliver my leaves to you. As taxpayers we buy the bags, collect the leaves, and deliver them for y composting--why the hell do we have to pay anything, mush less $50 a trip? Trust me, the leaves will be disposed of as needed! My friends who face the same dilemma suggest we
