Ultraviolet light from the sun or from a tanning bed may cause basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer. These are usually slow-growing skin cancers with a dome shape or a flesh-colored bump that does not go away. The spot may be pink, brown, or black; patches in it may be shiny or somewhat scaly.
Squamous cell carcinomas are the second most common type of skin cancer. They can be aggressive but are usually not a life-threatening type of skin cancer in its early stages. These common skin cancers may appear as flat reddish or brownish patches, frequently with a crusty, rough, or scaly appearance.

I highly recommend this group and specifically Dr. Chang! My father has had repeated problems with skin cancer and Dr. Chang worked with him on a large area near his eye. Dr. Chang not only stitched it up well, but he personally called my father the day after the surgery to ask how he was doing. They explained everything they were doing in an easy to understand way. My thanks go out to Dr. Chang and so do my father's. Thanks for taking care of him so well.

I went two years ago and was very pleased with the results. Desk staff and people on phone were very nice and helpful. The Dr. and nurse were friendly and professional. I really appreciated that the whole procedure was absolutely pain free. I need to have another thing removed and am going against new Dr recomendation and going back. Can't say enough good things about this place!

From start to finish this is the best experience that I have had with a medical office. The scheduling process was easy and they got me in within a reasonable amount of time. Once I arrived the receptionists were friendly and welcoming during the check in process. My visit with Dr. Thompson was exceptional.

The staff at Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center of NM are second to none. The professionalism displayed by the Techs in the room who are there from the beginning to the bedside manner and reassurance from the Doctors. I was truly amazed at what little time it took for them to come back in after the they cut off skin to tell me that they had removed all of the cancer. I expected to wait at least 30-45 minutes for results but it felt like less than half that. Skin cancer is no joke and is stressful. The entire staff made me feel at ease.

My experience with Dr. Chang was excellent! Also, his nurse assistant Margaret was excellent as well. I was very nervous and she was very empathetic towards me and calmed me. Dr. Chang's skills are excellent. He was very efficient as was the entire staff. His "bedside manner" was relaxing and I knew I was in good hands. My entire Mohs procedure was done in an hour from the time I entered the office. Great experience in a very trying and scary situation.

I had a lip surgery performed on me yesterday by Dr Davis and his assistant Melissa. Their bedside manner was great and Dr Davis was straight to the point of what my problem was and how he would deal with it. He answered all my questions which set me at ease. Then out the blue, Melissa called me later in the day to hear how I was getting along which I really appreciated, but this is not all, Dr Davis called me at 10 pm to ensure I was okay. This is a first for me in the USA for which 5 stars is is well deserved.
