Services
Our mission is not to simply teach Scuba diving - it is to create confident, self-reliant Scuba divers. All classes are taught by experienced instructors with a focus on safety, quality, and self-reliance. The Dive Shop has been in operation since 1989.

The shop originally opened in the 5 Points Mall in Bountiful, Utah; after three years there we moved to several locations in Bountiful before arriving at our current location at 429 West 500 South. In addition to being the foremost scuba school in Utah and holding a 5 Star Rating with Scuba Diving International, The Dive Shop also has a "quality, not quantity" attitude when it comes to dive training.
The Dive Shop features certification by Scuba Diving International (SDI)/Technical Diving International (TDI), the largest technical certification agency in the world. SDI is a primary member of the Recreational Scuba Training Council (RSTC); SDI certification cards at all levels are recognized and honored throughout the world.
The Dive Shop has teamed with the University of Utah Department of Kinesiology to provide ESSF credit to students who complete Scuba instruction in Basic and Advanced certification. Registration at both the U of U and The Dive Shop are necessary to obtain the credit; The first step is to check in with ESSF - then choosing your class below is the next important step.
No need to buy additional books, equipment, and we never require you to purchase equipment that you don't need. Your price includes books, equipment rental for 4 class/pool sessions and for 4 Open Water dives conducted over two weeks (Tues/Thur nights 7-10 pm or Saturdays 9 am to 3 pm). The only additional costs would be for transportation/food/lodging for the Open Water dives.
The SDI Advanced Scuba Diver Development Program was created to make truly "Advanced Divers". During the course your SDI Instructor will take you through four SDI specialties (deep, navigation, night, computer, etc. as examples) covering all the skills and subjects, so that by the end you will feel comfortable to conduct dives of a similar nature on your own.

I was going to the Maldives and planned to do a dive or 2 and I just figured why not go in to a dive shop and ask a few questions. Mac was so helpful and I will probably go through him to book my next trip after talking for awhile. Just walk in say hi and become scuba family! Amazing!

I bought my fins at The Dive Shop just before a recent trip to Florida. The first time I went in for their month long anniversary discount sale. I talked to Bob for a little while and he said I should come back with my boots so I could try the fins and get the correct size. He wasn't pushy at all and he was very friendly. They gave me a couple of peaches on way out. I returned a week or two later with my boots. Mac was at the store helping a couple with a purchase which was fine. I looked around for a bit and chatted with the other customers while they were at the register. Mac was super nice

Down to earth and best value around. They WILL go out of there way to help. With a dive trip quickly approaching, they added a class so I could certify. Jessica was an awesome teacher. Cameron did a phenomenal job to fully explain and educate. I've compared my training to others and I learned more information and skills then anyone else. Plus it was the cheapest class in northern Utah and included gear rental.

Derrek goes out of his way to keep diving alive in Utah. Setting up monthly meetups and dives. I'm extremely excited for the Annual Bear Lake Treasure Hunt this weekend. The Dive

Arrived at the dive shop and the parking lot was full... thought this was a good sign. Walked in and I observed what I assumed was 2 customers and 1 employee based on the conversation I overheard about the purchase of an exposure suit that needed to be ordered.

I walked around a bit to check out the store as I didn't want to interrupt the other customer. After a couple minutes, the customer left and the employee immediately disappeared into a back room without a single word. I wandered around for a few more minutes with the expectation that someone would come back out... nadda! I was never

The 1-star reviews are biased and misleading. I loved my dive certification course through The Dive Shop and would recommend it to all.

The courses (mine taught by Mac, one of the owners) were great and they were very flexible with my schedule. When I had a conflict with their planned open water dive and had to get certified that month, they made accommodations to schedule another open water dive for me. They teach more about dive computers than other places and they really want you to KNOW the principles rather than just get the dive card. The shop is small and definitely has the "mom and

A few years ago I took my certification class back in college in southern Utah. Diving has been one of my favorite things to do ever since. When I got married, naturally I wanted to share the experience with my husband, so for his birthday I paid for the certification class through the dive shop in Bountiful. I was so excited to surprise him I also purchased a high end diving suit & some beginners gear to go with it - through the same place I got all my dive gear down south. His birthday came and he was just as excited as I would had hoped. We immediately jumped online and chose a date

Instructors are rude, impatient and sarcastic. Classes and diving with these guys is a downer when it shouldn't be.

I use these guys for my special order stuff. They are always price competitive, prompt and helpful.

I bought a three-prong for my Hawaiian Sling here, and they were totally cool about taking the time to look it all up and order it for me. Called me when it arrived as well.

If you scuba in bountiful (haha) try this place out.
