Atlanta Structural Concrete was founded in 1958 as LEAP Structural Concrete, a joint venture between a well-known Florida based engineering company, and Bristol Steel of Virginia. These were the early days of the pre-stress industry in the United States.
LEAP itself had been formed only a few years earlier by the great industry pioneer, Harry Edwards, who had an important role in the formation of Prestressed Concrete Institute and is believed to be one of the conceptual creators of the "double-tee" structural profile. In the early 1960's, Bristol took complete control of the company, and in 1967, they hired a young Georgia Tech graduate by the name of Clyde Poovey to run the company.

Services
The EnCon Companies are specialty contractors providing precast/prestressed concrete systems and services to all facets of the construction marketplace. As a full-service precaster, EnCon manufactures a wide range of architectural and structural building components. Recognized as one of the leading precast companies in the United States, EnCon is pioneering the use of the latest technology for the design and fabrication of precast structures.
Total precast concrete building systems in which architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete components are combined to create the entire building, are becoming the format of choice for many construction teams.
Precast concrete is a high performance material that integrates easily with other systems and inherently provides the versatility, efficiency, resiliency, and durability needed to meet the multi-hazard requirements and long-term demands of high performance structures.Precast, prestressed Hollowcore is a drycast, extruded concrete product.

When designing total precast structures or simply using precast cladding components, our precast concrete products offer important advantages over other building systems and provide endless architectural and engineering design opportunities.Because of the inherent advantages of prestressed products, precast deck systems can be optimized for longer spans allowing for open plans.

In multifamily residential structures, a concrete Podium Slab typically acts as both a structural floor and as a transfer slab for wood and light gauge steel framed construction above. Usually these slabs are situated above parking levels and as such require higher fire ratings and reduced sound transmission.
Sustainable, thermally efficient, and having low life cycle costs, a total precast structure or even a precast wall system is an excellent building solution in today's environmentally-conscious climate. Plant fabrication results in enhanced recycling opportunity, reduced construction time, and less job-site waste, all of which have less of an impact on the landscape.
