Corporate Valuation Advisors was founded with offices in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1988 when certain individuals including current Managing Directors Larry Knauf, Rich Mills, and Jim Volkman joined together as founding shareholders. Together they saw a clear opportunity to combine their experience and expertise with a significantly improved level of client service and responsiveness.
Now, Jim Volkman is joined by a new level of shareholders and directors to continue the success the company has achieved over the years. The best evidence to gauge our level of execution on the success of our formula lies in the long-term relationships and continued service to many of America's leading corporations, law firms, and private equity firms and the referrals we receive from them and many of the top accounting firms and their auditors.

Whether a business enterprise, a single share of stock, a stock warrant, a stock option, improved real estate, machinery and equipment or an intangible asset, certain assumptions are inherent in the estimation of value. Since assumptions affect value, then facts must support the basis of those assumptions to the greatest extent possible.
We are proud of the fact that CVA and many of our individual team members support our community and others with charitable contributions and by rolling up their sleeves and getting involved. CVA and our employees are involved in numerous community causes and organizations some of which are identified below.
In order to support a board of directors and top management, we are regularly requested to perform fairness, solvency and surplus opinions to support the payment of dividends to shareholders and for capital restructuring. In many cases, the intellectual property of a company can be its most valuable asset.
Every financial valuation has its own level of complexity. CVA analysts have the experience of conducting valuations for entities from start-ups to multinational billion dollar corporations. What sets CVA apart is our wide range of valuation experience and the variety of financial valuation services we provide.
Over the more than 30 years since the inception of CVA, we have performed hundreds of fairness, solvency and surplus opinions. The idea that the Board of Directors of a given company owes a fiduciary duty to the shareholders of that company is a concept that is well known, well embedded in case precedent and consistently reaffirmed by the courts.
