Last evening was a heartfelt celebration, unveiling and dedication of the Centennial Patron Plaque at the Bangor Opera House, home of the Penobscot Theatre Company.
The event was so very well done, the plaques are absolutely beautiful, presentation and the management of guests was so well thought out, sound system and timing of things was perfect, nice job!
Everyone wore masks, people were mindful and respectful, and simply delighted to have the opportunity to come together as a whole.
It was so good to see old friends, to gathered together in honor of the theatre’s history and for the dedicated

The Penobscot Theatre is a treasure for Bangor. While the Theatre remains physically closed during Covid, it is alive in spirit. The theatre is located in the old opera house and offers a variety of plays during the year. It is in the downtown part of Bangor. During the temporary closure you can find the theatre online. It is worth a visit if you support culture.

This has been a place my mom and I have gone for many, many years. We are usually season ticket holders and go to at least two shows a year. This theater is historic and the shows are always amazing. There is so much talent on the stage. Years ago we went and saw their adaptation of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and it was AMAZING. It was actually better than the Broadway version! We attend many shows on Broadway as well, so I think it speaks volumes to the talent at Penobscot that their performances blew the Broadway one out of the water. We have NEVER been disappointed with one of these performances

In our first visit to the theatre since it was a movie palace in the 1960s, we saw Honky Tonk Laundry. Great introduction to Penobscot Theatre Company.
The musical comedy was funny enough, with good singers, but the cast, music, direction and stagecraft was downright impressive. Little theatre, big abilities!
