Ed Walnoha Jr. began Ed's Woodshed thirty-four years when he bought six Hearthstone woodstoves and then sold them out of his father's garage. The business earned an immediate reputation for great products and services. Ed's brother, Jim, who joined him in sales in 1987, has been continuing the same quality traditions that his brother established and prided the company on so long ago.
Since opening our doors in 1983, Ed's Woodshed has added many more gas and wood fireplace products in Pittsburgh, including linear outdoor fireplaces. Products are only purchased from the best quality manufacturers, keeping standards high and customers always satisfied. The six manufacturers we partner with include Vermont Castings, Regency, Hampton, Majestic, Mendota, and Valor.

I scheduled a chimney cleaning for 2 wood burners in my new home, they were booked a month and a half out. I took off of work bc it was their only appt for a couple weeks and I wanted to make sure my house was safe. I had a missed call from them the day before my appt, but no message. I called the morning of my appt to confirm, and the guy said that my appt had been cancelled, someone was supposed to have called me. I'm beyond annoyed... I took off of work, and no one even let me know.
Will definitely not EVER be using Ed's Woodshed.

Our recent fireplace purchase from Ed's Woodshed was a very wise decision. Having several children, we don't have the time to use the wood burner we bought from Ed's Woodshed years ago. We had our Regency i2400 wood insert removed for a new Regency gas direct vent insert with a blower and a remote. This thing is great! So are the guys who installed it!

So glad I picked up my Vermont Castings Aspen wood stove from Ed's Woodshed. We just installed it. Took a few more weeks than usual to arrive than usual, but that's because of covid. Most suppliers have a high demand and low supply right now. Ed's Woodshed helped me order the right pipe for the stove, and I was lucky enough to get some advice from one of the installers returning from a job while the salesman helped me load the stove onto my truck. These guys know what they are doing. I would trust them with my Roberto Clemente rookie card.

Bought a stove experience was fine, install date was later than I wanted by 6 months. Paid $190 for a chimney cleaning by Ed’s woodshed, technician did not clean the pipe, cleaned the stove only despite paying for both. Had another company clean it and asked if it had been a few years for a cleaning due to the amount of creosote. Ed’s woodshed has “cleaned” it 6 months ago.

Very poorly ran business. First scheduling here is bizarre, I would get a women on the phone and she would then tell me that she could call me back when she is doing scheduling? You can't just schedule me now while were on the phone? So she would then call me back a few days later and say that she now can schedule me an appointment, not convenient at all. So I originally contacted Ed's woodshed to get my gas log set looked at because it was not working anymore. After looking at the set they determined it needed a new part in order to get it to work again, so they ordered me the new pilot part which

I purchased my wood stove from the owner Jim back years ago, they treated me well back then. I'm not sure what happened to that company since then.
I sent an email off hours hoping to get a reply when they opened, to this day I never got one. I later called both numbers during business hours. One went to voicemail which was full and couldn't leave a message. The other number asked for a code which obviously I wouldn't have.
I called multiple times and finally got someone to pick up. The guy on the phone said he got my email and was waiting for the factory to get back to him..

Contacted this company to clean two chimneys in my home (Oct 2018). Like a fool I paid them without inspecting their work and as it turns out, they never actually PERFORMED the work. It has been 4 months (currently Feb 2019) and they are unresponsive - not returning my phone calls and not responding to the BBB case I've filed against them. I now have two fireplaces that are unusable and I'll need to pay another sweep to perform the necessary work. It's incredible that this company can retain customers. I would suggest looking elsewhere and stay away from this "business

We have used them a couple of times, and both were great experiences. The first time was to inspect a gas fireplace in the house we just moved into. The service guy really knew what he was talking about, and even went so far as to replace the fake ember stuff that's in the fireplace, at no extra charge. The next time, they came out and did a repair. Nick didn't leave until everything was in perfect working order, and he even checked out another fireplace for me that was having some issues.

I had a wonderful experience with Ed's. They repaired our fireplace, installed a new door and new logs and installed a remote operated fire. They were great! They kept my white carpets clean and let my living room perfectly clean. The fireplace looks fantastic!! When I had a question about operating the flame height, they emailed me directions immediately. Great experience!

Product options are good.
Installation -- not good. First installed with a cord showing sticking out of the fireplace. Ridiculous. The next guy they sent was better.
Follow up and service--poor. Rude on the phone and always seem overwhelmed and busy and they have to "see what they can do" or "check their schedule and call you back"--then they never call back. You have to call them again and then you get an attitude about how busy they are or people are taking time off.
Don't recommend them... pricing is very high and customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
