Edwin D. Vyhmeister, MD is a Board-Certified Hand Surgeon who moved to the playground of Alaska, the Kenai Peninsula. Dr. Vyhmeister has over 25 years of experience in solving hand, wrist and upper extremity problems. He specializes in treating wrist pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, lacerations, fractures, tendon injuries, nerve pain and upper extremity tumors.
Heidi Sturgill graduated from Ninilchik High School and went on the earn a bachelor's of science in biology with a minor in chemistry. In the summer's she loved to return home to work at Heritage Place Nursing Home, hike, camp and fish. After completing her undergraduate, Heidi attended Idaho State University's masters in physician assistant studies program and finished her degree in the fall of 2016.
Kenai Peninsula Orthopaedics uses the S-scan dedicated MRI scanner that represents the latest technology in MRI. The unique design maximizes comfort and stability. The MRI is open for easy access and no claustrophobia. The S-scan also provides amazingly detailed images for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Two large casting rooms are utilized to make and fit a variety of casts and braces. KPO offers a full line of pre-fabricated braces, crutches, and other durable medical goods. KPO is also proud to offer FastForm braces, which are custom fit braces used instead of casts for a variety of upper extremity conditions.
Your specialists offer a wide range of injection procedures which are used to treat many extremity conditions. Most of these injections are done with ultrasound guidance, which improves the accuracy of the injection and increases patient comfort. Cortisone (steroid) is still used as a potent locally-injected anti-inflammatory.
