I've been trying to get ahold of their office for months as my insurance says they are taking new patients. After 5 messages over 4 months I haven't once received a call back. Not to mention the 8 or so calls where I didn't leave a message. It's odd that no one ever picks up the phone.
I'm over it.

I called Dr. Hohman's office to see if I could switch to her as my PCP. Heather texted me back on Feb. 25: "Dr. Hohman will start taking on new patients the end of March going into April." I texted back on March 3, asking Heather to "please call me to schedule me a new patient visit in early April" and I switched my insurance to Dr. Hohman as my PCP. Heather had still not called me, so I called the office on March 9 and was told "Dr. Hohman is not taking new patients." I explained that Heather had said they could take me in early April but the receptionist said

She is a good doctor but the office is unorganized. I had my annual physical a few weeks back with new insurance card and all was ok. Called last night for urgent need and was offered an appointment for next day at 11:30 am. When I got there I was told she doesn't take my new insurance so now I have to try to find an MD that accepts new patients and I have an urgent medical need. This is not how doctors should treat patients.

She’s a great doctor. However she is
perpetually late for every appointment regardless if you arrive early or on time. I’ve waited 45 minutes past my appointment time to see her and my appointment is early morning. How can you be that late when the office just opened? Other than her punctuality issue she’s a very good doctor.

Dr. Hohman is the best, tentative and caring. She's up to date on medical issues, is knowledgeable and has a sincere bedside manner. She is good to see for showers medicine, general health and overall whole body medical needs. She understands coordination of care and makes sure we see the specialists we need to go to. She takes care of our family and we are grateful for her medical care.

A few things I want to make obvious so you can decided whether this doctor is for you or not.
Pros: The inside of the office has a modern and "homie" feel to it. And honestly it's probably one of the only things that's nice about this office.
Shaley, Donna, Maria, Wendy, and Destiny are very sweet ladies. Treat them well as they're probably the only advocates for the patients.
Now let's talk about the cons.
This office caters to the needs of white people, patients who make racist remarks aren't ever told anything by the doctors because duh, the doctors

I visited Dr. Julia Hohman a few times last year and this year for ulcer treatment, physical and other check ups. She was very helpful, straight forward and insightful. She also followed up with my treatments after work hour. Not a lot of doctors will call you after the office is closed to check in but she still does! She was very knowledgeable and was able to provide me with lots of useful information.
As for the clinic, the rooms feel a bit cold and not too inviting. They should decorate the rooms with pictures or other things to give a little warmth. The front office is nice! If they

Beware of this office!!!! I saw Dr. Hohman twice for simple procedures and was overcharged each time with excessive "office visit" fees. After several attempts to reach the billing admin, (she takes lunch from 1-2 and leaves at 3pm), I finally spoke with her and she was immediately rude and offensive when I pointed out the billing error. Beware of this office, there are plenty of good providers out there, don't waste your time here.

I'm over 55, no particular health challenges just a little larger than I should be - very interested in at least maintaining if not improving my health through healthy life style management, especially exercise. Dr. Hohman's background in sports medicine is a plus to help craft the best path forward, one that is tailored for me. She is a non-judgemental expert partner who collaborates with me with great insight and recommendation. Her referrals for specialty services are excellent (i.e. eye doctor). I could not be happier.

Every time I call I get "can you hold, 3 calls ahead of you". Sit on hold for 10-15 minutes. And in the past they could always fit us in within a few days. Now they are booked weeks out.
But the final straw was at my last visit she was so busy she barely even looked at me. I have never felt so rushed. Didn't get to ask all of my questions. She saw me for maybe 8 minutes, and was

After Gayle and I got hitched, I started to look for a Primary Care Physician on the Walnut Creek side of the Caldecott Tunnel. I had the same MD from the Alta Bates Medical Group for years, and that annual appointment was mostly a relaxed update on what was going on with my life (with an age 50 Exam in between).
Over here in the WC and like Gayle, I wanted a Doctor who was affiliated with John Muir. And thanks to that list and very positive Yelp reviews, I decided to give Dr. Julia Hohman a try.
From the get go, Dr. Hohman has been both collaborative and blunt regarding my state of health.

I cannot say enough good, no, great things about Dr. Hohman. I echo the statements where Dr. Hohman takes time to actually listen to you, as the patient. I had seen Dr. Hohman 5 years ago, and was forced to switch when my then domestic partner signed me (and our family) up for MediCal/Healthy Families. I was thrilled to find out that Dr. Hohman was part of my employer's medical network (HealthNet), I dropped MediCal like a hot potato (and my ex, but that's a different story for a different time ;-).
Dr. Hohman listened to my concerns with my bi-polar diagnosis 1 1/2 years ago.

I was quite impressed at my first appointment at her clinic. I grew up going to Kaiser and when i found out my job didnt have Kaiser for their health insurance i was a bit devastated. Ew, this means i have to leave my comfort zone!
The service at her clinic was wonderful! From the lady at the reception desk, to the nurses, and finally to Dr. Hohman, everyone was so sweet! i didnt feel like i was going to the Doctors office, but more like joining a family. Yeah, thats pretty corny, but this place is radiates what a real Family Practice clinic should be like.
