Our baby boomer population is 75+ million strong. On the whole, we live longer than our parents, and we all want high quality living and good health to be a part of our older years. As we age we experience physical changes that typically lead to a functional decline making us more susceptible to ailments linked to aging.
As a result we tend to move less. Many of us feel we should follow the advice of "taking it easy" as we grow older, but actually that is what we should not be doing. Lack of weightbearing activity contributes to osteoporosis. Lack of movement and stretching leads to joint deterioration and loss of flexibility.

An article written by Sue on Yoga for Golden Warriors was published in Rehoboth Lewes Life Magazine. When it comes to yoga, it's never too late for you to begin your practice! As a registered yoga instructor, I specialize in yoga for the 50+ population or "Golden Warriors." Not only have I have experienced the "yoga-tizing" effects on my body since beginning my practice in 2009, but I have witnessed my students transformations as well.
Yoga has given me more than physical benefits: toning my body and improving my balance and posture. Yoga has given me a sense of well being that has helped me deal with major life stressors: death of sibling and caring for my 96 year old mother. Sue McCarthy does a fabulous job of engaging the body and mind in yoga poses and she reminds us on a regular basis to honor our bodies.
I specialize in yoga for the 50+ adult population where I can adapt any pose to allow students to work within their own physical limitations, creating an element of comfort and safety. My teaching approach is adapted from B.K.S. Iyengar, Svadhyaya, and Hatha yoga styles. Beginning a yoga practice as an older adult can be intimidating, especially if you are out of shape or working with health conditions.

This is a great little center. Sue takes the time to be sure everyone understands the movements and the benefits but since she only works with those over 50 she understands some of us may have restrictions.
It’s nice note to have to wrap my leg around my shoulder but still continue to keeping my flexibility. Top notch classes
