Services
Kadampa Meditation Center Bloomington is dedicated to bringing peace and happiness to the world, and to removing suffering, through offering the methods of meditation and modern Buddhism. We aim to teach people how to develop pure, positive states of mind, giving practical tools to transform the difficulties of everyday life into an opportunity for personal growth and transformation.
The purpose of understanding and believing in karma is to prevent future suffering and to establish the basic foundation for the path to liberation and enlightenment. Generally, karma means 'action'. From non-virtuous actions comes suffering and from virtuous actions comes happiness: if we believe this, we believe in karma.
Everyone experiences the pain associated with craving and attachment, and many people suffer from some type of addiction. Through exploring Buddha's profound teachings and meditations we can learn how to overcome compulsive ways of thinking and acting that compel us to seek satisfaction from deceptive sources.
There are four main benefits of the meditations on taking and giving: they are powerful methods (1) to purify the potentialities of non-virtuous actions that cause us to experience serious diseases such as cancer; (2) to accumulate a great collection of merit; (3) to ripen our potentiality to be able to benefit all living beings; and (4) to purify our mind.
General Program (GP) classes are designed to provide varying topics of Kadam Dharma to give students a general experience of Buddhism. They are drop-in classes designed so you can come and go as you wish without a commitment. Foundation Progam (FP) classes are structured to provide continual teachings from one book until it is complete.

The meditation room is peaceful and beautiful, and the teachings are relevant and are easily applied to my life outside of meditation. Instructions are clear giving me confidence to practice. The bookshop has many meditation books to study and ebooks are also available. A wonderful place of community!

Absolutely love this center. I came in for two classes while in college, but committed to the monthly membership for the summer. I love Tsoglam, the resident teacher, and all the lovely people that operate and come to the center. Attendees are of all ages and I've gotten to know some amazing, uplifting people here. This center has made my time in Bloomington very special and I can't wait to check out Kadampa centers in future cities I live in.

This is an oasis of calm and peace in our lovely town. It is a place where all are welcome and many interesting, beneficial methods are given to walking whatever path one is on with heart. The resident teachers have a real way of listening and speaking in a way that enhances one's sense of purpose. I encourage anyone seeking community to reach out and try coming in!
