In 2009, we won the "Best Mexican Restaurant in Fort Wayne" award and we've been winning it consistently since. We win this award regularly because we start all of our dishes with the best ingredients. Spending more on quality ingredients and then properly training our team of cooks, we've mastered Mexican food creation and delivery.
When your food hits the table, you'll find it the proper temperature and amazing, original, El Azteca Mexican recipes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. They had to borrow $600 for the cash drawer, it was the height of the 1973 recession, and the cooks quit on opening night. It was no way to start a new restaurant, especially a Mexican restaurant in a city that had just discovered Mexican food.

El Azteca is definitely an institution and Mom has always chosen to celebrate her birthday there. Great location and ample parking. Good service, friendly and welcoming. We sat in one of the back rooms, our party of seven and another couple were the only ones in the small room, which made it very intimate and "felt safe" not to be in a large room full of other dinners. However, the food is not as flavorful as I had hoped. The salsas too mild and unseasoned for my taste. I can see this style would be very appealing to people who prefer milder flavors. The children's menu was great, offering generous

Went in to order take out. The food is not what I remember. Prices are higher than what they used to be but with prices going up can’t blame them. However the service left a lot to be desired. Bartender really didn’t seem like she wanted to be there. Took my order haphazardly so when I thought my food was all in one bag it wasn’t. Called back to ask about the shortage I got a snotty “well you can and come and get it” over the phone.
The service was poor as no one was in the restaurant and you would think the people packing the food would have checked the ticket to make sure all the food

Normally love it here. Have been going for years. But never before here have we had to wait for so long for our drinks to be made. It’s literally just 5 no one is in the bar outside of 6 people. We wait and listen to the bartender ramble on to another customer for 15 minutes! We timed it on our phones. Yes the drinks were amazing as was the food. But I could have gone without having to wait and listen to a stupid summer camp story.

Great place to eat some Mexican Food. We ate here with family and everyone enjoyed their meal. I ordered the Fajita Burrito Benji and it was very good and filling! Service was fast. The red sauce for the chips is the way to go over the green sauce. But be warned it may be too spicy for some. At least it was that night. Highly recommend giving it a try.

The location and parking is great. The staff is fantastic and wonderful and the restaurant is clean. It has the best stocked tequila bar I've ever seen. Being from Texas I found the food average and too Americanized for my taste. I like authentic Mexican food and this was far from what I'm used too.

For a "Mexican" restaurant to get something simple as chips and salsa wrong is beyond me.
To be fair the chips aren't bad but the salsa is abysmal! To call it salsa is an affront to Mexicans and Hispanics everywhere.
Would never eat here again unless it was out of my control. Best part of my experience at this "Mexican" restaurant was the service. Great service the waitress was very attentive, kind, and funny. Also very self aware of the food as she would warn me about what I ordered for which I am grateful.
If you've never been to this restaurant before I would say don't bother, there are far
