Services
In 1977, Dr. Lewerenz and Dr. Welsh each opened separate individual practices in Salina. Wishing to provide the best service to their patients, they merged into one practice in 1998. Dr. Murphey joined the practice in 2000. In 2007, Dr. Lewerenz accepted a teaching position at the optometry school in Oklahoma and Dr. Zerger joined the practice.
We pride ourselves on incorporating the latest technology to help better detect and manage many ocular diseases. The Optomap retinal screening and optical coherence technology (OCT) allow us to easily uncover and manage countless retinal conditions, macular disease, as well as glaucoma.
Our Diopsys electroretinography (ERG) testing allows us to better evaluate your retinal health and detect early, often unseen, disorders for at-risk patients and the visual evoked potential (VEP) tests offer information on many neurological disorders affecting the visual pathways.We are also proud to offer the Lipiflow for treatment and management of meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), the leading factor in dry eye disease.

Patients and potential patients do not need an appointment to meet with one of our eyewear specialists. On average, we have around 2,000 frames of various styles, shapes, and sizes available allowing us to fit everyone's needs. We offer eyewear and sun protection for all ages including Babiators, a sunglasses line dedicated to your little ones, ages newborn and up!

Dr. Smith builds comfort, trust, and confidence by giving the patient the time and information necessary to undertand and make decisions about his/her conditions and options, and the other staff members are always welcoming and helpful.

The staff is great! Their office hours work with my schedule so I do not have to take time off from my job. Drs knowledgeable, and explain things well enough to keep me at ease and informed. The staff works great around children as well. I would recommend them to everyone. And do tell my friends how easy going and comfortable I feel when going to the eye doctor.

I've been coming to this particular office for many many years and I'm pleased to say that I always get fast efficient exemplary service with a smile! The girls up front are very accommodating if I need to change my appointment for any reason and the gals that help with the eye exams are so gentle and encouraging. Dr. Zerger is my doctor that I'm so pleased with. He's always kind and efficient-helpful with any issues I may have. It's a very pleasant experience when I have to go yearly for my checkup and I look forward to visiting with everyone. Thank you Eye Care Associates for caring for me!!
