Stayed for two nights on the way in and out MaCarty.
James who runs the place with his wife was the nicest and most welcoming. The cabins are well furnished, and Breakfast is to write home about personally prepared by the proprietors in front of you who also feel responsible for the conversation to flow.
Amazing contrast to cabins at MaCarty itself.

This place is a gem in the Wrangell St Elias National Park! Beautiful and very clean wood cabins elegantly decorated for each theme. I stayed in the Bear cabin which had a great mountain view in the background..actually the entire property does! With the beautiful sound of the river and wildflowers galore this is where you want to stay! From the amenities which are fire pits, a cook house, running water and private bathrooms IN the cabins and more. The owners are amazing and friendly and give you the privacy and also the stories and friendliness that you deserve. I personally left like I found

Amazing place! The owners took such good care of us. The cabins are so well decorated and extremely clean. The property is on 10 acres with only four cabins, so you felt like you had the whole place to yourself at any time you were there. This place is a must! Also: We were skeptical of driving here because of everything we read saying that McCarthy road is awful... it really wasn't in our opinion. If you drive carefully (as you should anywhere) you'll be fine, just take your time driving and enjoy the views along the way! We saw a few sedans/hatchbacks on the road that made it to the very end

Amazing log cabins. Very rustic but with modern conveniences. They changed owners, it is now called "Wrangell Mountains Lodge" The location is tranquil, overlooking the Chikosna river at the base of a gorgeous mountain. The hosts are very nice and friendly but they also gave us privacy in our cabin. Each cabin has it's own bathroom with flushing toilet, and hot shower. We enjoyed walking along the river and even doing some gold panning. There are animals galore! We drank our coffee from the balcony each morning and watched all of the wildlife meander through. It was well worth the visit. We left
