Theatre Company, a Not-For-Profit 501c-(3) Public Benefit Corporation, is a small, dedicated group of passionate artists devoted to producing original works and Los Angeles Premieres by the best contemporary playwrights in America. VS. was founded in 2004 based on a passion for riveting stories and live performance in an intimate setting.

Recently named "one of the top theatre companies of the last decade" by the LA Weekly, VS. has produced or co-produced major contemporary playwrights including John Patrick Shanley, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Adam Rapp, Itamar Moses, and Neil LaBute. To date, VS. has produced or co-produced sixteen plays.
Services
After eight years without a home, the VS. Theatre Company has signed the lease on its first permanent space. The move means VS. will expand its company of about a dozen actors, directors, and designers to some 35 members. With the added personnel, the company will go from producing one show a year to a season of three or four.

Im not reviewing as a paying customer. I'm reviewing as a fellow artist. The space seemed perfectly fine, and you can read all the glowing reviews about the cleanliness, and productions that have been held at this theater... However, I was Totally disappointed in how I was handled, and I should've written this a long time ago. I've been doing theater for a very long time in Los Angeles, and was professional when I called the VS theatre company to see If I could use the space for a staged reading. To me, it was perfect and in my community so an easy location to rent, and I had

Fun place. A friend of mine already had purchased a ticket for me and I didn't know it. When I got there I purchased my ticket at the door. After my friends got there, we realized we now had an extra ticket. The fella at the desk said he would try to refund it. After the show I forgot to go in and see if he was able to do it. I just figured no big deal, it could be a sort of donation to the theater. Then the refund showed up in my bank account. I'll be back to make a proper donation.

Saw Gus' Fashion and Shoes here. It's an awesome play. I highly recommend seeing the show's run.
The staff and crew were very professional and friendly, whose main focus is to have the whole night; from the moment you step in, to the moment you leave, to be a wonderful experience.

I loved my experience at VS Theatre Company. Clean, plenty of parking, neighborhood feels safe, lobby is beautiful for after show reception, theatre space small but cozy. The best part is the staff. They welcome you with open arms. Never ever had this experience in other LA venues. Bravo. Coming back for sure.

A hugely impressive new look and feel for this theater. There is now a full lobby; spacious and comfortable with a terrific aesthetic and an impressive selection of food and drinks. Though the theater itself has less seats than others in this part of L.A., it strikes the perfect balance between ample performance space and intimacy for the audience. Also, the newly renovated bathrooms are a welcome change.

I attended the April 26, 2013 performance of VS Theatre's "Cops and Friends of Cops." By no means am I a theatre expert or aficionado, so my view of things comes from the perspective of an ordinary Joe (or Jane).

In short: Cops and Friends of Cops is wondrous in both its production and performance.

Without giving the whole story away, the thing that stands out most in "Cops" is the attention to detail throughout the entire production. Everything -- from the music, lighting/staging and dialogue -- is done with good taste and makes it seem as though you're in the scene

This theater has been reborn by VS Theatre Company, but very much remains the neighborhood gem it was as The Black Dahlia. Now consistently filled with new and developing work, it is part of a very up and coming area of Pico. And for those who had been to the old Dahlia, the renovated and expanded lobby will be a very pleasant surprise. Spacious and stylish with full concessions, it's a worthwhile hang-out spot in and of itself!
