Rystadt, the President and owner of Main Street Development, a Portland, Oregon native, is a fourth generation builder. His father, grandfather, and great grandfather were all home builders. He started following in their footsteps out of school as a carpenter tradesman, and formed Main Street Development in 1995.

This company & its people are a wide-awake nightmare. They have continued to engage in astonishingly unsafe & thoughtless practices as they have constructed a (huge and unwieldy) house in our neighborhood. I have lost count (more than 50!) of the number of times they have blocked the roads without having or using permits, cones, flaggers. They have put construction equipment in the street at a blind corner, creating hazards in the best of weather, not to mention the worst of it. The list goes on. The owner is rude, condescending & dangerous. He skimped on so many necessary safety precautions

I absolutely hate confrontation. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I've tried to work with the owner of this business, but my neighbors and I have had a really difficult time with this company. They are building a huge spec house on our street, and they have done nothing to earn trust in the neighborhood.
They have blocked the road without warning the neighbors or the school district, so parents have had to scramble to get kids to school when the bus couldn't get through on multiple occasions. They are building the house on an extremely steep hill with very little space
