There are many signs your foundation may be failing. If you notice doors or windows that do not open or close properly, cracks in your brick, drywall, concrete, or tile flooring, sagging roof line, sagging floors, or separation of baseboards or shoe molding from your floors, these are all indications of foundation failure.
It is important to build your home on stable, solid ground. Unfortunately, soil is a composite of many different materials, some of which is more dense and stable than others. Over time, the soil can compress causing your home's foundation to settle and crack. Depending on where you live, "solid" ground may span hundreds of feet below the surface.
When the soil under your house compacts upon itself or erodes, any structures above it will settle. This, in turn, warps the house's framing and causes cracks to form in the foundation. Visible damage from foundation settlement and sinking may also manifest in the "stair step" cracking in your brickwork or block foundations.
The moisture levels in the ground surrounding and supporting your home greatly affects the stability of your foundation. If the soil is too saturated with water, the soil below can soften, swell, or erode. If the soil is too dry, it will compress, leaving pockets of loose soil and air beneath your home.

Very pleased with every aspect of my dealings with MDH through every aspect of my interaction with them. Professional. Responsive. Helpful. Jim F was great to work with. Whole crew who did the job of encapsulation and installing supports were friendly, prompt, and the worksite was cleaned every day. I got estimate from other company that advertises alot and they were much more expensive and were high pressure. Thank you MDH staff and crew. MDH and their team encapsulated my crawl space and installed dehumidifiers. I can’t imagine a more quality or more professional construction crew. They did a perfect job at what they do, but they were also so professional and polite around my wife and children. They dress in logo branded MDH collared shirts, they show up early, and the have a can do spirit.
I honestly wish they did more than just crawl spaces. This company and their team is what construction companies should strive to be like …top notch work, first class customer service, organizational excellence!
