A second generation homebuilder, Sage Homes LLC is based in Punta Gorda, FL. We are family owned and operated by Paul Schaefer II (Jr.), his father Paul (Sr.) and mother Lorraine. I was with my agent looking for lots in Burnt Store Village. The lady that answered the phone was horribly rude. She didn’t even answer with a greeting. Then when my agent asked how big the lot was, she answered with “well don’t you have some type of map” in an extremely rude tone. Not helpful. If this is how their reception is, I can’t even fathom how bad the building service would be. I would absolutely stay away.

I've called over 30 builders in Punta Gorda to build the forever home for my family. This is by far the rudest most unprofessional builder I've spoken to. Had called them several times and took them a week to get back. The owner contacted me in an explosive email telling me he doesn't want to die building a house for me.
Here is a quote from the owner I was sent in an email
" you have clearly never driven down that road and had a triaxial dump truck come across the centerline, head on at you while you're driving the 55 mph speed limit and he's doing something around

Paul Jr and Sage homes did their very best at guiding us through our first time home build.
My wife and I chose one of their models and customized it to our likes with help from Paul jr.
We were out of state for the majority of the build but felt very comfortable with Paul's communication and pictures to guide us through.
Two of many reasons for choosing Sage Homes was the energy efficient ideas built into their homes and attention to detail which was at the top of our list of requirements.
It did take a couple of months longer than expected but learned since this is the norm in Florida for
