Once upon a time every street corner in Hong Kong had a dai pai dong which translates literally to "stall with a big license plate". These outdoor hawker food stalls with no-frills seating areas are common in the suburbs of Hong Kong, particularly SoHo and the Mid-Levels and are famous for cooking up some of the most delicious Chinese food you have ever tasted.
Dai Pai Dong typically specialize in a specific dish, e.g. Chinese BBQ meats including Peking Duck, Char Sui Pork, or Noodles, Dumplings and desserts and are usually passed on for generations with many of them having been in business for 100+ years. Duck & Roll Founder, Rob Joseph, spent many years doing business in Hong Kong and loved to wander the back streets of SoHo tasting delicious, authentic Cantonese food at these Hawker Stalls.

This was my first time ordering here! I ordered the dumpling soup, chicken base. It’s hot and super flavorful for a simple soup. The dumplings are also great! Lots of flavor, and not super large and overly doughy. I also ordered the hot tea- (I ordered delivery.) The tea is still hot and the soup is as well! Very tasty! I will be ordering again!

I'm obsessed with the Peking duck pancake. Honestly, none of the food that I've gotten here has disappointed. The dumplings are delectable and don't even get me started on the pork shoulder.
It wasn't an overly busy night when we went and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. We've returned for carry out and will return again.

Tried Duck & Roll over the weekend and really enjoyed it! They have amazing staff and I wish I could call our cashier out by name but I can't remember it; she gave us some great recommendations & checked on us multiple times during our meal. I got the beef ho fun and it was SO good! My fiancée got one of their rice dishes and wow their rice is amazing - perfect fluffiness. I will definitely be coming back here!
Also, I have a dairy allergy and felt like our cashier/ waitress was really knowledgeable. Asian food typically is not cooked with a lot of dairy but she made sure to point

Tasty specialty Chinese food with several duck themed dishes and other specialties. The white jasmine rice was tasty and had a nice mouthfeel. The Master Stock Chicken had a delicious flavor that reminded me slightly of Filipino Adobo chicken, given how many flavors were in it. The Fried Rice was quality as well.
Just one note: if you do not like cilantro, some of the dishes may not be for you. The dumplings and fried rice both contained decent portions of it.

This was my first time trying Duck and Roll and I had a great experience. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls and the steamed pork dumplings. They were both filled with great quality ingredients and lots of flavor. The staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations and the atmosphere was clean and cozy. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes!

First of all I just want to say the people who work here are really nice and friendly. I have no problems with the service and would give them five stars. But the food. Oi vey!
Granted I'm from Los Angeles so I shouldn't be comparing Asian food in Kansas City to the extraordinary ethnic foods in LA but I was not prepared for this. It's like some kind of frankenfood recipes that somebody invented that doesn't taste or look anything like Asian food.
I ordered a chicken satay for an appetizer. Surprisingly that took the longest to come out and I understood why when I got it. They

I ordered the Crispy Pork Belly and it was not only overpriced ($13.50) but also over salted. I couldn't finish my last piece of Pork Belly because I started to feel sick from the saltiness, and I'm someone that doesn't waste food. My friend got the Chicken Congee and said it tasted good... so maybe I just got unlucky with my order. In summary, food presentation is an A+, but what you order might just be a hit and miss.

As a Hong Kong native, I was very excited to try out this spot. Unfortunately i was rather disappointed. First impressions, it is clean, bright, and actually quite spacious. The website describes that the owners used to do business in Hong Kong and hoped to bring the Cantonese style cuisine to this place.
The char siu pork shoulder was on the lean side and was quite dry. The flavor is fine and is typical, but again just too dry. Usually it should be more tender and juicy, with adequate amount of fat. There is something wrong with their Dan Dan noodles - perhaps it was a problem with the preparation

Decided to try this place with my friends the other night (maybe a month ago). Unfortunately, my friends did not care for their stir fried noodle dishes. However, I ordered the Chinese BBQ pork over rice and enjoyed it.
We all enjoyed the duck egg rolls the best. They were incredibly flavorful and tasty. They were perfect. (Highly recommend any of their duck dishes)
The noodle dishes my friends ordered were not very flavorful and they both had to add sriracha to give the dish more flavor. Also, some of the shrimp was still raw. I told her she should have said something to the server

I was invited here for a Yelp review party I have to say I loved loved loved the food it's a great addition to South plaza dining but if you're anywhere near South plaza make the effort to get there I tried three or four items off the menu and they were all fabulous the staff was great and they practice excellent covid precautions.

We have been trying to get here since it open and it didn't disappoint!! Started with the duck pancake, the duck was highlighted by the sweet from the hoisin and spicy from the jalapeño. Also got 2 types of dumplings- pork with jalapeño, but the ginger was the best part of this one and the shrimp with woodear mushrooms. Both I would get again.

I got to check out this restaurant from a Yelp Elite event a while back and I'm super thankful I got to try it out. Duck & Roll is located right across the KC Public Library. They have a variety of traditional Asian dishes (more specifically, Hong Kong/Catonese; I really want to try their Peking duck pancakes and hot pot next time) and some more casual go-to dishes like stir-fry noodles and fried rice. The inside was clean, there was a couple of tables for outdoor seating, and some parking around the corner (would recommend parking at the garage across the area then walking over if it

Absolutely LOVED trying this business!
This was a completely new experience for me! We tried two appetizers and two main courses to go. The person taking orders was extremely helpful and orders were ready to go within 20 minutes. Awesome customer interaction on the phone, as well as when we picked the orders up.
Apps-
Peking Duck Spring rolls- super delicious, came with 3 rolls and sauce. The sauce was similar to a sweet and sour taste, but slightly different.
Sang Choi lettuce cups were amazing! Lots of food for a fair price. Personally preferred this over the spring rolls for quantity and

We are so full and happy after our takeout lunch! So refreshing to find Chinese food that's not greasy and tastes so fresh. There are HUGE chunks of tasty chicken in the rice, not just filler foods. The lunch special is a great deal, as the portions were very large. So excited to have a new spot in the Plaza area!

The staff was so kind and helpful. We really liked the steamed greens and added dumplings that we loved. I would definitely recommend trying the Peking duck pancake - it was tasty. We didn't love the entrees (they were a little too salty) but would definitely go back to try something else. They let us eat on the patio and it was perfectly shaded + socially distanced. Definitely would go back to try something else - they have a great lunch special.

Salt & pepper prawns are fire. Lettuce wraps or Peking Duck Sang Choi Bao are pretty damn tasty. Thought that was a good place to start. Was told the menu was inspired by street food in Hong Kong and since I've never been I appreciate it being brought to humble Kansas City.
Owner and staff are genuinely great people who love what they do. Got a snap shot of how Duck and Roll came to be and honestly the story was equally as good but I've always been a sucker for a fun story. Not bad for a hobby. Lucky for me it's making delicious food.
Has a fun modern Hong Kong vibe. Clean

When I found out this place offered Peking Duck, I knew I wanted to try it. We came here and ordered the Peking duck rolls, chicken and cilantro dumplings, and the cumin lamb. We ordered everything at the counter inside and they had a few tables set up outside for us to sit at. Their Peking duck doesn't have the super crispy skin that I love, but my husband enjoyed it. The dumplings weren't my favorite. I was surprised we only got 3 dumplings in our order. The pieces of lemongrass in the filling were kind of hard to chew. My favorite dish is the cumin lamb, which I would recommend if
