Dr. Barrett has been expertly trained in all of the most advanced techniques of minimally invasive surgery to ensure that his patients are on the best path to a rapid and optimal recovery.

Dr. Barrett is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with a specialty training in Sports Medicine. His practice mastery extends to all arthroscopic procedures of the knee, shoulder, and hip in addition to knee and shoulder replacement.
Ligaments are the soft-tissue stabilizing structures between bones that keep our joints stable. Ligament injuries can sometimes heal on their own but often do require surgical repair or reconstruction. The meniscus is the soft tissue structure in the knee that acts as shock absorber during weight bearing activity.
Arthroscopy of the hip is minimally invasive surgery using pencil-sized instruments and a camera to access the hip joint. This is the best way to treat some of the soft-tissue and cartilage injuries that can occur in the young hip. As we get older the once super smooth cartilage in the hip becomes worn and thin.
When joints age the synovial fluid loses its lubrication properties. Injection of the naturally occurring proteoglycan hyaluronic acid can restore viscosity thereby restoring joint function and reducing the pain of arthritis. Platelets are at the front lines of your body's healing cascade. By isolating and activating these cellular scaffolds we are able to direct the bodies healing responses.

After dealing with shoulder pains for far too long. Dr Barrett took the time to explain my options and answer all my many questions. He reviewed the surgery involved, and what I could expect from the rehab in clear terms. Just completed the first phase of rehab, and the difference is already amazing. Dr. Barrett performed surgery on my right shoulder yesterday and I can already tell he did an excellent job. The pain after surgery is actually less than before! This was my fourth shoulder surgery and I believe Dr. Barrett is the best Doctor I have seen yet. His staff is also amazing and very attentive to detail. I recommend Dr. Barrett for any Orthopedic issues.

I am quite happy after 4 weeks since my shoulder and rotator cuff surgery. Dr Barrett is a wonderful surgeon. He promised that my shoulder surgery be less painful than my total knee surgery and was correct. I am extremely happy at this point and highly recommend him. I am in a sling and still recovering and will post again later.

Dr. Ian Barrett is a great doctor, and his practice Modern Orthopedics is excellent. Dr. Barrett is very knowledgeable--he helped me with an issue when I was in the hospital, and with a follow up appointment. Excellent communication skills, explains things very well, and does a thorough evaluation. I highly recommend! Also, their office is very well run. Getting an appointment was quick and easy, and I was able to do the intake paperwork online. I wish all of my other doctors' offices were this well organized.

I saw Dr Barrett because I was having a lot of pain in my left shoulder, and couldn’t lift my left arm above my head.
He diagnosed rotator cuff injury. My insurance insisted I go to physical therapy before they would allow an MRI or x-rays. I start physical therapy because the pain was increasing. Dr Barrett, was able to talk my insurance into letting me have x-rays and MRI. The x-rays and MRI showed that I had a badly torn rotator cuff.

So happy I found Dr. Barrett's office. It was very refreshing to have a Doctor that could pinpoint exactly what was going on with my daughter and give a thorough plan of action for her that will benefit her for life.
