Livingston-Hughes Surveyors was established in 1994 by David Hughes and is dedicated to providing both timely and quality land surveying services to clients throughout the State of Maine. We are a full service professional land surveying firm located in Kennebunkport, Maine. Our professional staff consists of professional land surveyors, land surveyors in training, computer draftspersons, survey technicians and customer service personnel.
If you are buying or refinancing a home and intend to borrow money, chances are your lender will require a Mortgage Loan Inspection Plan (often called a Class D Survey or Plot Plan). Lenders use this tool to insure title for the mortgage you intend to create. At Livingston-Hughes Surveyors we have completed more than 55,000 of these types of inspections.
Most land in populated areas of Maine was originally divided and conveyed with "metes and bounds" descriptions. Unlike many other areas of the country, Maine was never sectionalized, or gridded into rectangular parcels as much of the nation was during early expansion. This makes the Maine landscape interesting with irregular bounds following tree lines, streams, stone walls, and other natural boundaries.

My bank hired this company to do the surveying on my land for closing for a house. The sketch that he drew was inaccurate and he submitted it to the lawyer firm or for closing. Now they won't release the money to pay my contracrs. When I spoke to the surveyor he refused to redo his sketch and resubmit it. I am paying them through my bank to do this job correctly, and their NOT!!! I am very upset and I would not recommend this company at all. Take this as a warning, go elsewhere.
