Leslie's husband Dale held a Fulbright Scholar position at the University of Nairobi, and during the years the family lived in Kenya, Leslie fell in love with African artistry. Lovely fair trade and ethically sourced not-for-profit that sells homewares, jewelry, small toys and books, rugs, clothing, journals, coffee and teas, Christmas decorations and much more. Almost every item comes with a story about who makes it and how it's contributing to local economies, community development, education, environmental sustainability and more.

Village Goods has a good selection of Fairtrade foods, including excellent Zatoun olive oil from Palestine, coffee, chocolate, and baking goods. Every year I also check their website to see what planters they have in stock--from time-to-time they offer some very striking ones.

Fair trade goods from around the world. Children's books with global representation for those who want to expose their kids to the similarities and differences of people around the world. Organic socks for all age groups. Cat houses for pampered felines. The only time I wished I was a cat! Amazing jewelry, rugs, woven baskets. Super silk scarves made from saris. Fair prices.

I went in thinking it would be like the shops I've found where there was lots of hand crafted jewelry, clothing and decor made in different countries from all over the world. Examples, "Cultures" in Fredericton NB, or "The Black Market" in Halifax, NS. Its sort of along those lines but had less selection and higher prices.

Sometimes called the "Menonite Store", it's a great place to go to when window shopping or just walking by on Whyte Ave. With a great selection of items from all over the world. From souvenirs to beautiful hand bags, from furniture to cups, variety of coffee and books and toys. There is a bit of everything!. Wheelchair accessible.
Great deal and crazy sales, so just ask the amazingly friendly staff.
Totally recommended and everything is for a great cause!

The staff are lovely. They are great at suggesting ideas if you are unsure. If they haven't got what you want they will suggest other places near by that may be of use.
The atmosphere is calm and everything in there is hand made and fairly traded. Wow

Great concept for a store. As a person who has traveled to many places where much of this stuff is sourced, I can definitely appreciate the concept of fair trade. Where I find the store falls a little short, is that they focus heavily on artisan crafts that can be very expensive. From a personal bit of experience, arts and crafts from local minorities or regional artisans I find I only purchase directly from that artisan myself. Art has such an emotional connection that even though it looks cool, the high price without the personal connection is more difficult to justify to oneself. Great coffee
