Williamston Gin & Lumber Co. was founded in 1925 by J.L. Simpson. The company's name was changed in the early 1950's to Williamston Lumber Co. by M.W. Simpson, J.L.'s son, to reflect the company's move away from cotton ginning. As the company continued to evolve into the 1970's, the direction of the company changed again from a building supplies outlet to primarily a hardware and related lines company.

There's not a lot of home improvement places or hardware stores in Williamston. So, I'm glad ACE is here. They have an ICEE machine ( .99 cents ) red or blue. They have lawn care items, potting goods, and hardware in the back. I enjoy all the unique items they have at the register. I bought a SOG Q2 multi tool there and my Husband loves and uses it everyday! It's always clean and organized and the staff is very attentive and helpful.They have outdoor mulch, and cute little gifts and a corner full of Simply Southern collection.

I rent a storage unit here and have been a customer for the last 6 months. Although the employees are friendly and helpful trying to use the storage unit has been an absolute nightmare from day one and the management has believably unhelpful and seem to not care at all about customer satisfaction. That mixes with the recent rate increase and inability to gain access to the unit on multiple occasions is ridiculous. I will be taking my business elsewhere!!!!
