Chavez emigrated from Mexico in 1984 and spoke no English at the time, taking odd jobs while attending night school to learn English.

Used to love this place... but just got it again today and they went the route I absolutely hate... I know that price of inventory has gone up, so please just increase prices a bit and keep the original amounts on your items, instead of this crap with becoming skimpy as hell and keeping your prices the same.. it feels so much more like a scam then anything else.. basically makes me never want to come back..
Edit... just checked my old orders.. its even worse.. it is upped prices and skimpy..

Got 12 tacos here--6 al pastor and 6 carnitas. Al pastor was definitely better by a long shot, but both were on the dry side. Tacos are on the average-to-large size.
Each taco was $2.50, which isn't bad but they have a party tray for 12 tacos for $29.99 so we saved a whole penny! According to their website they offer 50% off al pastor tacos for Taco Tuesday. For $1.25 each, that is a damn steal and I will be sure to come back to take advantage. They also give love to other days of the week with $5 carnitas burrito on Wednesdays, $1.25 tamales on Thursdays, and 2 for $6 barbacoa tacos Friday

I went in to order tacos on tacos Tuesday and they completely ripped me off. I ordered 7 tacos , 2 quesadillas and 2 horchata drinks. My order was $40 but I paid because they lied to me saying they don't do taco Tuesday anymore which they still do. The cashier was Kayli. She had the food ready to go and insisted for me to pay. She also request to tip down my throat for $6 but that didn't happen. I just took my food and go. Can't believe that order was $40!! What a rip off. As an African American I support Hispanic communities and their cultural food but I do not support businesses

We have ordered from La Plaza a few times during the pandemic and overall enjoy the food--great chips, delicious guacamole, etc. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that it has been wildly inconsistent for us. We have ordered nachos, both chicken (grilled, not shredded) and carne asada as well as various tacos.
The first time, we loved it, and it was nearly perfect but we decided that the next time we'd order an extra side of guacamole because we would have liked more, personally, since it was delicious.
So the second time, we ordered nachos again with an extra side of guacamole

I thought I already reviewed La Plaza before on yelp. This Taqueria is solid and it's on Mclaughlin and 24th street. Not far up from Santa Clara st. going downtown st east toward the 101 interstate. I went here like about a year ago and randomly thought how good my carne asada quesadilla and fresh orange juice were. Crazy good! I'm really picky by default on mex food because I grew up eating food like this home cooked goodness. mmmm. lol. Anyway they've got an e-menu, chips, tacos, tortas and nachos! Yeah! I love crispy salty nachos. Pretty standard yeah, but what sets them apart

Taco tuesdays -
I'm not sure if they offer the taco tuesday discount anymore but rather 40% off so it's no longer $1 Al Pastor tacos (slow cooking pork). Staff was friendly enough to give me some onions and pepper to pair with my order of 16 tacos. xD
Despite that, staff are so friendly! Fast service. And great tacos!!
