Williams law group was established in 1995 and was built on the premise of "changing your perceptions of attorneys" through a people-oriented approach to the practice of family law. Our practice is limited to the issues that surround a divorce or separation, including but not limited to child custody, child support, alimony, property division and domestic violence.
The staff consists of two attorneys, a paralegal and the legal assistant. Our firm's office is located in Cary, North Carolina in the Parkway Professional Park located at the intersection of Cary Parkway and US 1. Miles Williams calmly and methodically probed thousands of pages of evidence and discovered a small detail that led to uncovering an overwhelming wealth of evidence which led to a very favorable outcome.

In North Carolina the court order that officially terminates a marriage is known as an "absolute divorce". Do not confuse an absolute divorce with proceedings for child custody, child support, or alimony.
In North Carolina you can be granted an absolute divorce even if those other matters have not yet been resolved; however, it is important to understand which of those related claims must at least have been filed prior to your absolute divorce being granted.A divorce lawyer can provide a detailed explanation of the divorce process and any related claims involved in your particular case.

The most common ground for divorce in North Carolina is the fact of being separate for one full year prior to the filing of the divorce complaint. Contesting a divorce may be as simple as the parties do not agree that they have been separated for one year. Maybe one spouse believes there was a period of reconciliation or believe it or not maybe one spouse did not even know that their spouse had separated from them.
In North Carolina, if the parties cannot agree to separate then a party can seek a divorce from bed and board. This claim allows the court to step in and judicially determine the right of a party to cease living with their spouse. In order for the court to make that determination it will need to hear evidence of grounds to cease living together.
After deciding to divorce, most people want to move quickly and civilly through the process. One of the options that allows for time saving and money saving resolution of the issues arise from the decision to terminate a marriage is mediation. Mediation is the process through which the parties negotiate resolutions to all marital issues, including, custody, child support, spousal support, and dividing the marital assets and debts.

My first attorney couldn't handle my case so I was referred to Miles. His team are like a family fighting for you and encouraging you every step of the way. When it seemed like litigation was the only way Miles negotiated a deal that I was happy with. I would highly recommend this amazing team to anyone.

Miles Williams calmly and methodically probed thousands of pages of evidence and discovered a small detail that led to uncovering an overwhelming wealth of evidence which led to a very favorable outcome. It was brilliant. Miles understood not only the immediate case, but also the long term consequences of extended serial litigation, and left me in an extraordinarily strong position at the conclusion of the case. The tight document Miles constructed has proven instrumental in preventing additional litigation. Miles is calm, well spoken, reasonable, related well with my judge, and worked diligently
