Our office sees the signing of your estate planning documents as the beginning of our relationship with your family. Over time, your assets will change; your family may change; we know for sure that the law will change.
When a loved one has passed away, we are here to help guide the executors/trustees through the process of settling the estate. We understand that this is a time of grieving and loss and are here to provide compassionate, caring and thorough advice and assistance. Losing a loved one is difficult enough without the added stress of making important financial decisions that can dramatically impact your family for years to come.
Whereas litigation pits one member of your family against another, mediation brings the members of your family together in a supportive space so everyone can talk in an honest way. The mediator ensures a safe environment and facilitates the flow of conversation. After both parties have a chance to share their side of the story while the other side listens, the mediator encourages the parties to identify their underlying needs and interests.
We will normally offer a complimentary one-half hour consultation for potential new clients who were referred by an existing client or colleague. The purpose of this time period is to get to know each other, understand what your needs are and discuss what costs may be involved. This complementary period is not intended to provide free legal advice, however.
