Rosalynn Carter Institute For Caregiving
My family has had its share of caregiving experiences, and more likely than not yours has too. As a nation, it's time we create a public health strategy that values and supports all our caregivers.

Without robust strategies and systems to support America's already vulnerable informal caregiver community, the health, strength, and resilience of unpaid family caregivers will remain at great risk, with long-term repercussions for our nation's health, economy, and stability. Our primary focus is on the unpaid or informal family caregivers: those individuals who respond to a need for care of a relative, friend, or loved one.
Services
More than 53 million Americans provide care for adults and children who cannot care for themselves. Whether helping an aging parent, a seriously ill spouse or child or some other special person in need, those giving care often do so at a great personal sacrifice of time, energy and income. I know firsthand the demands of caregiving.
There are 53 million caregivers in the United States, and that number will continue to grow. Caregiving is rewarding, but it is also challenging. Research shows that unpaid or informal family caregivers are at increased risk for physical health, emotional and mental health, financial, and work-related problems.
There is strength in numbers, especially when you are trying to reach more than 53 million unpaid family caregivers. RCI partners are instrumental in helping us reach more caregivers, in more places, and in more ways. Working collaboratively, we support the health, strength and resilience of caregivers.
Advocacy is at the core of everything we do, as we work to support the health, strength, and resilience of family caregivers. We need to build a stronger, more equitable system. A person's race, gender, geography, and income should never be a barrier to accessing high-quality resources and information.
Today, 53 million people in the United States are providing care to loved ones. These unpaid caregivers play a vital role in our society, yet they are often unnamed, overlooked, and systemically disadvantaged. By making a gift today, you can help support millions of caregivers who provide a tremendous service - not just to their loved one, but to our communities.
