Gino's Restaurant has been a favorite staple of the Baton Rouge restaurant community for over fifty years. Gino's was established in 1966 by the Marino family including Vincent, Mama, Gino, Laurence and Frances. The family originated in Siculiana, a town in the province of Agrigento, Sicily, where Mama was born.

Vincent arrived in the United States in 1955, followed by Laurence in 1957 and then Mama, Gino and Frances in 1958. Throughout its history, Gino's Restaurant has been and continues to be 100% family owned and operated. Originally located on Perkins Road, Gino's moved to its current beautiful location on Bennington Avenue in 1975.

Best Italian restaurant you can find around here. Cozy, friendly employees, clean, & outstanding food. The bread (Gino's) & arancini are a must-have. Fresh delicious veal dishes as well as steak & pastas.

I love Italian food of any kind and I really had high hopes since they said it was authentic. The minestrone soup had nothing tomato about it and had cauliflower in it. I love cauliflower but did not expect it in soup. The soup looked and tasted like they opened a can of cambells chicken soup and added a couple of pieces of carrots and a few other small pieces of vegtables in it. there was no pasta or beans in it. Next the lasagna was not good either, it had no ricotta cheese in it or cheese of any kind. It had a little bit of melted cheese on the top layer, in between the pasta layers was just

No flavoring in cream/Alfredo sauce, which was really disappointing. Their fried calamari also had little to no seasoning in both the breading of the squid and the marinara sauce. The staff members were fine. Definitely not coming back though, way too pricey for small and bland portions. You can make more flavorful pasta at home.

I love Italian food, but this was mediocre. First, there wasn't much I could eat on their menu, as I cannot eat pork, shellfish, or peas. I ended up getting their fettuccine in cream sauce (it was warm, not hot). It was horribly bland, I had to add a bunch of salt so I could even taste it. I was surprised that I paid that much for a small bowl of pasta with a bland sauce. Where's the garlic? Isn't this Italian?
The cannoli shell was delicious. The filling was okay. I make cannoli and I take the extra steps to make it amazing. This was good, but not great.
Now their Mamma's bread was really, really

We were gifted a trip to Gino's, and felt it was only appropriate that we try it because my husband's name is Gino. Honestly, there wasn't anything spectacular about this place. We were really hoping it was authentic since our family is Italian. I enjoyed the bread and wine, but that's about it. The sauce needs some MAJOR adjustments, as well as the tortellini carbonara... it was glorified alfredo sauce with 2 pieces of microscopic ham.

Used to enjoy this place. It has changed. First they sat us near the busser area. A portable plastic tray and trash can I would expect to see in a fast food joint. We asked to be move and were.
Not too many healthier options on menu. Server was pleasant and attentive and service was quick. Presentation was lacking.. Taste was good.. Asked for coffee and needed cream. There was no pitcher for the cream. And the individual portion in their own packets just tossed on table. Really?l guess this is the new norm with restaurants struggling...

This place is stuck in the 90s. The restaurant is severely in need of a face lift. They try to hard to give you the "overpriced Italian" experience. But they succeed. Sign on door for needing the correct attire, lights too dim to read the menu, 90% of the food says seasonal and is unavailable, couldn't even get the seafood cannelloni because they didn't stuff it for that service. What we were able to order tasted good, but it was definitely not even in the same ball park of what we paid for taste or experience.

I have been eating here my entire life and it is always delicious! I love their atmosphere and is deferentially one of the best Italian restaurants Baton Rouge has to offer.

Overall, This place was just average to me.
My order
Laurence bread - delicious, but it’s 2 pieces of bread for $4+
Lasagna- I like a very saucy lasagna and this wasn’t really that. The flavor was bland and for the price I thought the portion size was small
Overall, nothing was bad, but I would visit other Italian restaurants before coming back

What an amazing family owned business. A must go to when in Baton Rouge. Great authentic Italian. Gino and family take pride in delivering their mommas recipes for all to enjoy. Look forward to going back. Love!!
