UPDATE: Unfortunately I need to update this remark, I contacted them for a quick fix for my water heater pilot. Turns out it was as simple as turning a knob. You would think that being a returning customer (see below) and given that it was a 5 minute job... well why not screw your customer all the same. $245 for turning a knob and a few minutes travel...
I hired Avid Handyman service for the renovation of two bathrooms.
The work was pretty good and results were acceptable, according to what was paid.
The team was very professional and hard working, patient enough to hear and apply our requirements

I originally contracted AVID Handy men to fix a leak in my roof. I was so pleased with their expediency and professionalism, I then contracted them to do my bathroom renovation. BAD EXPERIENCE! I really tried to make it an easy job - sent pictures ahead of time, described the work I was looking for, however none of that seemed to have helped.
Contracted to seal fitment around PTAC Air Con unit which was missing molding at baseboard area. Sent pictures ahead of time to outline the work that they were going to have to do. Agreed service was to (1) install baseboard which had a gap between my unit and the wall (leading to air leakage) and (2) seal the gap in the air con unit sleeve.
They came unprepared for the job without a baseboard, and instead installed caulk where

Avid were restoring our antique brownstone entrance doors. It was quite a significant job required to sand the doors to the bare food, repair some panel cracks, repainting with color matching to other wooden panels behind the door. Also the frame around the door needed the same job to be performed. Folks from Avid made an amazing work at a competitive price. They were also great at communicating details and options and giving updates.

Used Avid to create an exhaust vent opening in my new kitchen cabinet and mount new microwave. I was able to get same day appointment. Ron arrived on time and was very professional and friendly. It wasn’t cheap, it is Hoboken after all, but you get what you pay for. Great work, I think I will use them again for handyman services.

I hired Avid to help me with a number (~10) of random but difficult projects around my new home, including disposing of hazardous materials, fixing electrical errors, removing a heavy and precariously placed chandelier, and repairing holes in the walls. We purchased curtain rods and drapes from West Elm for a wall of windows in our apartment. We originally hired West Elm for the installation but their technician was unable to drill into our wall... I ended up calling Avid. They were great and easy to work with. They quickly and professionally installed the curtain rods and drapes. I am a perfectionist when it comes to these things and our curtain rods were installed perfectly and are going strong a year later. Du was our handyman. He was awesome and our even our dog liked him. Virginia is a godsend! She was super helpful and accommodating! My kitchen had a slight emergency where the sink detached from the granite countertop. Even though it was a busy Friday, Avid Handyman made time to get to us in Paulus Hook to avoid a weekend without a functional kitchen. Hired Avid after searching and getting quotes for both painting and minor construction services. What I really like is that they do any project regardless of size, and they offer a variety of services, from painting to construction and electrical, and we wanted to establish a relationship with a company that we could call in the future as additional work arises. Needed a microwave removed from above our stove and replaced with a new one. Got Avid off yelp and I'm back to confirm the positive reviews! Easy to schedule, updated me via text and email, and communication was super easy. We also had our dishwasher secured into place under the countertop as well as rewiring our Nest fire alarm. Everything was so quick and easy! The gentlemen that arrived to do the work were kind and prepared. Got the job done pain free.
Cost about 195 for the all three services which I find to be completely reasonable. 10/10 recommend for any household handyman needs!!

Today we had a new insulated metal exterior door installed on our house. AL and Mike were the technicians that were sent to do the project. They were amazing! They made a great team that got the project done in a timely fashion and the craftsmanship looks amazing. After they were done, they cleaned up quickly, explained what they did and had me give my final approval of the job. This is the 2nd project Avid Handyman did with our home ( an interior bathroom door and this project ). We could not be more pleased with their work! We would recommend this company to anyone in the area that needs a project

Beware! Avid Handyman irrevocably damaged a door they were attempting to install at my house, and refused to take responsibility for it.
Avid was hired to install a door at my home, which they installed upside down (see photos below). The door can no longer be used, since the door handles would be at the wrong height if the door were turned upright to its proper position.
My phone calls, emails and letter requesting compensation for the cost of this damaged door have all been ignored.
Unless you're looking for the added aggravation of going to court for your next small home improvement
