Services
Blackout was founded in the summer of 2007 by a group of students at the University of New Mexico. We started with late night sketch comedy shows and eventually moved on to mounting full length productions. For many years, Blackout ran Wrinkle Writing, a large-scale education program that served hundreds of students a year improving literacy through playwriting.
Cutthroat is Blackout's Improv team dedicated to improv in the stream! We not only enjoy performing live improv shows, we create shows specifically for streaming formats! Keep up with us on Twitch, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube; or if you need to contact us directly, demand an audience at cutthroat@blackouttheatre.com!
As of the summer of 2020, Blackout Theatre has officially moved out of our old offices on Lomas and Eubank. We're grateful to our friends at Children's Choice for renting us such a great space and we're looking forward to the next stage of our journey as a company. You can still contact us by our regular phone number and mailing address, and be sure to stay in touch with us on social media for production information and other company news!.

They’re lovely! Always high quality stuff if the content is their own, fun classes, and cool Halloween activities!

Where New Mexicans go to hear captivating stories and learn to tell their unique story: This is the work of Blackout - in the theatre and in the schools. We heard it from the director himself tonight at their Improv night, which was a fundraiser for this most excellent organization. They have several theatrical events planned this year. Go see their website. If you have extra money lying around, write them a check and they'll use it to reach kids with the arts in our schools. I've seen a few of their live shows now and it's always money well spent - such feel good moments surrounded
