Dr. Mary Owen-Sjostedt is a licensed, certified Audiologist who has worked throughout Colorado, rural Alaska and most recently at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, where she specialized in pediatric and adult diagnostic audiology. In addition, Dr. Owen-Sjostedt has a strong background in noise-induced hearing loss, tinnitus and hearing loss prevention.
At Northland Audiology & Hearing Services, our highly qualified Doctors of Audiology blends the art and science of better hearing and collaborates with other medical professionals to accurately diagnose hearing disorders for people of all ages. For the types of hearing loss that can't be improved through medical or surgical treatment, hearing aids may be the best solution.
Watch batteries may last year, but require little power to keep ticking. Hearing aids require more power to perform complex functions to amplify sound correctly to meet you needs and the varying listening environments you're in throughout the day. Domes are the small plastic/rubber pieces that go on the end of your hearing aid's receiver if you have a RIC style hearing aid.
Hearing health is important, and it deserves the expert care and attention that is provided by an Audiologist. Some people might seek hearing solutions through a hearing aid dealer instead of an Audiologist if lured by an offer of "a free hearing test" or because they lack the awareness that there are significant qualification differences between the two disciplines.
A hearing test, also known as a diagnostic hearing evaluation, is an assessment of your hearing that is performed by an Audiologist. If you have a hearing loss, whether or not it can be managed with hearing aids or if you would benefit from further medical testing. These forms will ask for your contact information, hearing and general medical history, and insurance information.
