Joy in Piano serves the greater Leominster area offering in-person and online private piano lessons to students from 4 years old through adulthood. For in-person lessons, we are conveniently located for Massachusetts students living in Leominster and northern Worcester County. With an internet connection, students from anywhere in the world can learn with us!
Our curriculum focuses on building a solid technique and strong note-reading skills, but all students will have the option to improvise, compose, and perform. In each lesson, we maintain a balance between discipline and fun, allowing each student to discover his or her own joy in piano.

I have really enjoyed lessons with Mike - he is patient and thoughtful, and makes learning a fun challenge. The ability to take lessons over Zoom has made it possible to keep learning momentum through social distancing. Our six-year-old daughter started lessons as well, so we've enjoyed Mike's skill at teaching for adults as well as children.

My 8 year-old son has been taking lessons from Mike for over a year now. We have been extremely happy with both his professionalism and caring nature. He is very soft-spoken, patient, and truly enjoys teaching. Beyond that (and most important) my son is very comfortable around him and is excited for his lessons every week. His rates are very budget-friendly, he has a very fair make-up policy, and offers great communication and feedback. I would highly recommend him for anyone interested in learning piano.

I started taking piano lessons with Michael just a few months ago. It's my first exposure to music of any kind and I'm so thankful to have found such a great teacher. He is very patient, explains things in a clear way, and truly seems to enjoy music. He is deliberate in his methods and they are very effective. It has become a joy for me to learn to play. His rates are very reasonable and I highly recommend him. I hope to sign my toddler up for lessons in a couple years.

Michael provides a solid learning experience that puts the joy of piano above all else. I am an adult student in my sixties and have been taking lessons with Michael for two years. A friend recommended him and I am forever grateful. I took piano as a child and managed to forget everything that I had learned. I am amazed at how frustrating it is to get my hands to move in different directions while concentrating on reading the music at the same time. My children took piano lessons here and the experience was wonderful for them. Michael is an incredibly talented, patient, kind, and extremely professional teacher. He finds joy in piano and it is genuinely contagious. I liked his teaching style so much that I am now taking lessons from him too, along with my granddaughter. Mike Rice is an outstanding piano teacher. My daughter took lessons with him and the class was such a delight that I decided to take lessons, too!
