A periodontist is a doctor who specializes in maintaining the health of the tissues in your mouth. They also are trained to prevent and treat any diseases that are associated with those tissues. Periodontists undergo several additional years of training beyond dental school and offer highly advanced treatment in the field of periodontics.
During this exam, Dr. Bjornson focuses on your immediate needs and concerns and then develops a plan to help you achieve a healthy mouth. A periodontal assessment includes an examination of all aspects of your mouth as well as of the temporomandibular joint, head, and neck. The oral exam includes an evaluation of your gums, supporting bone, teeth, bite, and a cancer screening of the soft tissue of the tongue, cheeks, and throat.
In the early stages of periodontal disease, the best treatment option is typically non-surgical care. This tartar creates swelling, redness and bleeding. Dr. Bjornson and her trained staff can remove the hard deposits to allow your gums and bone to heal. This procedure, called Scaling and Root Planing, is often accomplished with local anesthetics so there is no discomfort and you can return to your normal routine following the appointment.

Dr. Bjornsen was recommended to me by my general dentist, and I was very impressed with her practice overall. She is kind, demonstrates compassion, and listens/explains everything in detail. She performed a thorough evaluation of my gums that went beyond any dental exam I've had before, and then explained the process of the gum graft I needed. Pre-payment is required for procedures, but the process was otherwise very easy. The procedure was painless after the IV stick, and my new gums look and feel very healthy, as if the gum recession had never happened. I'd highly recommend Dr. Bjornsen for periodontal

Dr Bjornson changed my life. I got hit in the face with a Barbie doll when I was 9 and it broke my front tooth in half. I’m now 34. After many years of issues and crown replacements and root canal and blah blah. My gums were enlarged around it and my crown always appeared short and discolored.
When I decided to get everything fixed RIGHT last year...it was discovered I had a large abscess where my root canal failed. The tooth could not be saved.
Undoubtedly I was afraid...i was referred to Dr B and told she was the best.
She gives it to you straight. No nonsense but also very maternal. After
