During the early 1970s and for nearly two decades, the original Fisherman's Cafe was a local hangout where fishermen came to swap stories and get the news of the day, to find out where the best fishing was and even who was looking for work. It was a simple place and a simple time. The Vega family, owners of the restaurant, knew all the locals by name and often had their orders ready for them even before they sat down.

What can I say…this is a must when visiting Key West. We love tacos and tried many different establishments while we were there, and I can honestly say Fisherman’s Cafe is the best! Too bad they didn’t have any lobster that day, but the pulled pork and fish tacos were unbelievable. Pulled pork was seasoned well and not salty (which I find too often) and if getting the fish, get it blackened. The food took a bit of time, but it’s expected since it was made fresh. Plantains we’re made just how I like em - soft and sweet. Portions are sizeable so you definitely get your money’s worth.

This is a must have if you’re visiting Key West. We accidentally stumbled upon this place a few years ago and cannot leave the island without having their best fish sandwich! Everything is fresh, seasoned amazingly!!

Was torn between the shrimp wrap and the lobster tacos. Went lobster tacos with fried plantains. Very, very good. I like that the lobster taco wasn't creamy but had a nice vinegrette on slaw and was savory. Very different from a lobster roll & really good. Will go back before my trip is over.

We had lobster tacos, catch of the day tacos (yellow tail snapper), and an island bowl. They were all very good. The breakfast looks good too. I’d like to try the guava sesame toast and coffee next time. **Edit** I came back for breakfast and had the sesame guava toast and a cafe con leche. So good

One of the best hidden gems on the island. Black bean burger is phenomenal, and their yuca fries are some of the crunchiest, most delicious things I have ever tasted. The woman in front (so sorry I don't know her name!) is always so pleasant and friendly. Don't fret at prices at first glance - the portions are HUGE. I have yet to finish something I've ordered, despite a large appetite. Lemonade is fresh and has no added sugar - I love it that way. Have yet to try the coffee but have heard very good things. Excited to come back next year.

Second time I have eaten here and I love it! Food taste is great! Prices are good on some items but a little high on others. Portion size is decent as well. Would go back and eat there again.

The fish sandwich was great and the portion was big enough for 2 people to share and if your thinking about getting the mac and cheese then you definitely wouldn't be able to eat it by yourself that thing was huge.
