Camp Tamakwa
During the summer, Camp Tamakwa operates as a private co-ed residential children's ontario summer camp, an all-around recreational wonderland for our campers and staff. Located in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Tamakwa is a 2.5 hour drive from Toronto. Tamakwa is basically the sole user of South Tea Lake, a picturesque lake, approximately one square mile in size.

In the middle are three islands, including "Treasure Island", a traditional destination for long distance swims, about half a mile from camp's shore. In the off-season, Tamakwa provides the perfect venue for outdoor education, leadership development and team building by school groups, organizations, conferences, corporations, not to mention an incredible backdrop for beautiful Algonquin weddings and family retreats.
Services
In 1936 on a cool, misty morning, Lou Handler and Omer Stringer paddled a red canoe across the still waters of South Tea Lake in Algonquin Park. They had a vision for a special place. One with countless outdoor activities, a community of soon-to-be lifelong friends and a place where kids were encouraged to learn, play and grow.
Our campers get to run, play, jump, sing, swim, sail and paddle along the entire South Tea Lake shoreline. And with Algonquin Park in our backyard, there's no better place to explore and adventure. Tamakwa offers one of the most diverse outdoor recreational programs available. While it boasts many modern features, we pride ourselves on our traditional values, skill development and camp spirit.
Hey alumni, give us that Old Tamakwa Spirit! Send over your favourite camp memory, photo, schrek or even your best "Young Folks, Old Folks" cheer. We love to hear from our alumni, so send anything our way and we might just share it on our Tamakwa social media feeds or blog.

An incredible weekend filled with traditional camp activities, special events, spirited sing songs, evening programs, amazing food, a classic medley marathon, lots of laughs, non- stop campfires and plenty of that good old Tamakwa spirit.Plans are underway for the next Alumni Weekend and we'd love to get you involved.
The South Tea Echo is our annual newspaper/yearbook filled with stories and photographs from each summer. Below are copies of the original songs written by campers and staff each year for our summer ending Colour War programs. If you have copies of songs not listed below, please email them to us at lonepine@tamakwa.com.
No matter how thorough our camp materials are they can never convey the Tamakwa experience as well as a first-hand encounter. We invite you to join us at one of our upcoming open houses so we can explain our summer sessions, answer any questions, and give you a sense of Tamakwa's warm family atmosphere, deep rooted traditions and of course, what makes Tamakwa so special!

Loved the camp!!
We had a 4 day retreat there and it was just a beautiful location that allowed us to disconnect for a bit.
What was even more beautiful than the camp grounds, was the staff. Leslie, has an amazing team that are very dedicated and enthusiastic which shows in their work.
Def. Recommend sending your kids here or doing private events I.e. corporate retreats, weddings and etc.

It's an incredible camp! Kids have been there for 9 years and are staff now. A home away from home! There is no other place they'd rather be.

Great camp in the heart of Algonquin Park. Staff are always friendly and many have worked with our group for years. The facilities are still in need of some TLC especially the cabins but the efforts are apparent as many had new windows and roofs.
