The AMCA is a trade association of mechanical contractors operating primarily in south central Alaska, but also elsewhere in the state of Alaska. Our member companies offer all of the services of the mechanical contracting industry including commercial plumbing, heating HVAC, refrigeration, service, industrial piping, controls, and custom fabrication.
The association was formed in 1969. Our organization was founded in order to promote the mechanical contracting industry in our area. Any plumbing and/or sheet metal contractor that is signatory to either or both of the unions (local or national agreements) is eligible to apply for membership. Membership in national organizations such as SMACNA, or MCAA is also available through the AMCA.

To consider and deal, by all lawful means, with common problems of management, such as those involved in the production, distribution and employment of the mechanical contracting industry; to advance the common purposes of its members, foster equity in business usages, and promote activities aimed at enabling the industry to conduct itself with the greatest economy and efficiency.
As a lifelong Alaskan, I have witnessed a lot of change in our state. I have seen Anchorage and the state move from a "bedroom community" status prior to the oil pipeline boom of 1974, to a bustling city and state with a healthy industrial resource base. I grew up wandering around my father's shop staring at all the "marvelous" things one would find in a mechanical and food service equipment sales and repair business.
Various committees, as listed below, are formed for the involvement of our member companies in industry-related activities. It offers continuing education for maintaining the State od Alaska administrative licensing requirements and other educational opportunities as they become available. It brings to the member's attention the different legislative actions that affect the industry.
TO improve ourselves, increase our efficiency and enlarge our service, and by so doing attest our faith in the fundamental principles of life, that they profit most who serve best. TO realize that we are businessmen and ambitious to succeed; but that we are first ethical men, and wish no success that is not founded on the highest justice and morality.
