Coccia House Pizza
In the fall of 1958, after the death of her husband, Domenica "Minnie" Coccia, along with her daughter Jeannette and son-in-law Joseph Calabria, opened a pizzeria/restaurant at 764 Pittsburgh Avenue in Wooster, Ohio. Opening night yielded a rousing $17.00 in sales. The years have taught us many lessons, some things to try, and some things to never try again!

Operated today by Joseph, Jeannette, Karen, and Steve Calabria, the Coccia House features homemade Italian pizza, Abruzzi style. Our dough is prepared fresh daily in our own kitchen and never frozen. Our cheese is provolone made especially for pizza. Our policy is and always has been lots of dough, lots of toppings, lots of cheese.

It's funny that sum pizza shops rate higher than Coccia. Ive traveled the world, and this place can't be beat! Not like any other place, or experience. Love it.

Is the best pizza in Wooster, Ohio.
We even freeze and reheat. Tastes just like when you ordered it.
We have friends that have it frozen and delivered, sometimes by us, sometimes FedEx, either way people LOVE COCCIA HOUSE

GREAT pizza! I've been on the pizza industry for the past 18 years and Coccia House Pizza is some of the best and uniquely prepared pizza I've ever had. Nothing beats a New York style pizza but this pizza literally have me a Mouth-Gasim!

I am sorry to say that we had the pizza today. As we were driving home we both thought the pizza smelled bad. Go home and the sausage tasted spoiled. We scraped it off but still could not eat it. If we lived locally we would have returned it.

A local gem. If you don't like garlic, stay away from the pizza though. Best non-chain pizza joint in Wooster. The thick slices of provolone cheese on top are amazing and these guys load toppings unapologetically.
Saw where someone said Little Ceasars was better, you're effing nuts. Coccia House is a throwback restaurant to simpler times, cash or check only, no credit cards, and is a staple of the community. Those pizza ovens have produced thousands of pizzas in them.
During COVID they went to take and bakes only as their prep area wouldn't allow for 6-foot distances in the pizza oven areas,

Over rated in my opinion. When we moved to the area, everyone suggested we go here. I think it more of a local thing but as far as pizza goes, it below par. Expensive and not real pizza.

Have given this place multiple opportunities to make me a believer.
Three times my pasta meal had overcooked pasta and burnt meat.
Their pizza, in comparison to many, many other pizza restaurants, is awful.
Garlic is meant, in good Italian restaurants, to enhance the flavor of a meal. Here it's meant to overpower it. Just wrong.

Great pizza. Just don't go in to sit down and eat. Especially on a fri or sat nite. You will be there at least 2 hours unless you order your pizza before you get there.

I've eaten here twice. Maybe it's because I'm from the east coast, but I found the pizza here very unimpressive. I guess from a local perspective it's good, but I've had pizza all over the country, and Coccia is just sub-par. I've had worse, but I've also had better, and more often, the pizza is better other places.

Second, we did a dine-in as a group. I was less than impressed with the service and the food. Since having their pizza before, I decided to get something else. It was underwhelming as well.

I'm not sure what the hype is, but maybe it's

This pizza is probably hands down the best pizza ever. It is well worth the wait. We drive over a hr to just get pizza. I think that should speak for its self

Great atmosphere. Clearly a favorite of the locals. Went for my son's birthday. He's raved about this place and how great the pizza is. He and my hubby loved the pizza. I did not. The crust on my pizza was hard and dry. It was also burnt in spots. Not appetizing. I don't know if it's because my pizza was a small to their mediums. Given how much he raved about it, it was very disappointing. They had many other dishes on the menu. Next time, I'll try one of those.

Grew up in Wooster and always come home for the holidays for a hot pie, and to take home a couple of half backed pies for my freezer. Wonderful pizza.

Our experience was all around flawed at most every step. Upon reading reviews it was clear we would need to order well in advance for our takeout order. With out of town guests arriving at 8 I thought it would be safe to call at 6.

Our call was answered by a very inexperienced worker who could not answer questions of even the most basic level. I understand everyone has to start and has a learning curve but there should be no learning curve for basic manners and a good attitude. When I ordered the pizza she said it would be 2 hours and 15 minutes until that would be ready. We had never ordered

Coccia House is such an acquired taste. You either love it Or hate it. I've grown up eating Coccia and needless to say I am never not satisfied. I love my pizza & I love my pasta every time. Thanks for being a big part of my childhood Coccia!

The food and waitress were perfect. However, there is a rude a## lady that ran the cash register on the night of oct 26 2019. I all I have to say is sorry for not seeing your cash only sign in the front of the house. We came thru the back entrance because it was down pour raining, so we did not see the sign until we had to pay. Sorry for my girlfriend having to stay for an extra 5mins as I drove to the nearest atm to pay the bill. Also sorry for asking where the nearest atm was. I DID NOT NEED THE EYE ROLL AND SIGH. (MY GIRLFRIEND even said you mocked her as you talked to other staff). I'm

The sausage and pepperoni is so delicious. We always had Coccia house pizza growing up, my Grandma Zarlengo was great friends with the Coccia family and it was right up the hill from her house. 😍🍕

I have always been pleased with their pizza and meals but Friday night we picked up a pizza and after a few bites of one piece found two toothpicks under the cheese. The wait to get in to the place is extreme as everyone loves this Pizza in the Woo area, and their quality has always been good. This last experience was a bit off-putting to say the least and I feel like it wasn't as good as it used to be. I have pix of the toothpick attached as well.

Very good!

Great sauce, love the cheese and love the sauce. Great crust.

Thick cut pepperoni and sausage.

The banana peppers are strong somewhat overpowering on the pizza.

Order early for carryout! They get busy!

Wonderful Italian Dinner. I had read (and called) to confirm that if we dine after 7 there wont be a crowd; there wasnt. We had a party of 5 and we were greeted immediately though had to wait a few minutes.

We were not sure what to expect with the mixed reviews but we were all happy with the evening! Also, this is a CASH only establishment, so be prepared.

Though Jeff was not a server, he was a very welcoming family member that continued to guide us thru the menu, provided sauces to try and answer questions.

Our table was always pleasantly bussed by a young man (also) named Jeff. Our server

Stopped by for a late night dinner. Pizza was great and staff was very friendly. Prices were fair and they offer free refills on soft drinks. They also serve crafty beers and good wines.
The setting and feel of the restaurant feels very warm and cozy. Definitely will be coming to eat in more often.

1) Keep hitting redial. It's worth it.
2) Order a deluxe pizza (pep, sausage, mushroom) this combo is THE best. Always with "grass"
3) Yes, be patient when they say it'll be an hour and a half. It's worth it.
4) Arrive with your cash or good check, no cards taken here.
5) Take it home and enjoy the garlicky, cheesy, saucy goodness. Then go smell your car later... it still smells amazing.
6) The day after enjoy the "Coccia farts" and warm up another piece. It's worth it.

You're either going to love it or hate it. No in between. You're going to think it's amazing unique pizza or you will hate it.

I happen to love it.

You will also probably wait forever for it. My suggestion is to call ahead for the pizza even if you're sitting down to eat so you don't have to wait so long.

My pizza - sausage & mushroom

You can also get Pepperoni on top so they get crispy. Or no grass (hold some of the seasoning on top). I believe you can also get it "bricked" and it's crispier.

So much garlic. It's delicious.

Think back to those Sunday mornings when your Nonna woke up early and started prepping dinner. There was crushing tomatoes, peeling garlic, slicing onions. There was forming the meatballs, and getting the pasta ready... and all before 9am.

Oh. You're not Italian? Well, that's what it was like. One of the common things I hear about Coccia House is that "...it takes sooooooooooooooooo long and I can't even right now and I'm so hungry and..."

I'LL TURN THIS DAMN CAR AROUND RIGHT NOW!!! (Sorry. Natural reaction.)

Look. Great things come to those who wait

Mixed bag. These guys could be millionaires if they franchised. The pizza is great, always has been. Pepperoni is spicy, sauce is unique and well seasoned, crust is crispy and pizza comes with heavy mozzarella. But we can't seem to figure out why it takes so long to get in, to get a phone call in, to get the food. It's like they have one oven and it's an easy bake oven for kids. They don't take credit cards in the restaurant but if you have pizzas shipped, they take credit cards. I gotta believe that so they don't have to report all of their income.
