Amazing place. Friendly service, and awesome equipment. Matt and Mike let me search around for the perfect slab to use for a mantle. They were very patient and really care about the lumber.
They helped show all the pieces they had: were very knowledgeable and down to earth about what would work and how much it would cost.

How is it that I've lived in the SF Bay Area for over a quarter-century and just now heard about the Ponderosa Millworks? Just knowing this place exists gives you a whole new arsenal of weapons in decorating and gifting!

The sweetie wanted a standing desk, one of those with controls that lets the horizontal surface move from a sitting height up to how she comfortably poses for video-calls. IKEA had a good, industrial stand, but I teared up thinking about the boring desk surfaces. She spends a good amount of time lavishing attention to the design of her home office and "starship"

I called them on a Sunday to get some information about milling some logs expecting someone just to brush me off as most people on the phone do nowadays, but not them. The gentleman who answered the phone, took his time to explain the process, the benefits of milling vs. the cost, etc..etc. Now I'm more informed, and I really appreciate the time they took to explain everything without any hesitation. Thank you.

We had a fantastic experience working with Matt. He is very knowledgeable and super patient. We designed our new dining room table from scratch and Matt helped tremendously in finalizing the wood selection, design and finish and then he delivered the table and assembled it in our house. We are incredibly happy with the finished product and would definitely recommend these guys. They are passionate about the process and the finished product. Everything at their shop is reclaimed too so you are giving the trees a second life.

I had such a good experience working with Matt and all at Ponderosa Millworks. It was my first time and I was so happy it was so close. They did great work and were highly professional. Can't wait to send them pics of the slabs installed. Thanks again to them!

I purchased an elm island top earlier this year. It is beautiful, sturdy and unique. They know wood and ensure it cures properly before prepping it to your specifications. Thank you Matt for your help seeing the order through, and Cody for an excellent job filling, sanding and finishing the top in our kitchen. We love it!

Ponderosa Millworks is the best mill around in the East Bay. The entire staff is friendly starting with the owner Michael and Matt, Ryan, Louis, etc.
Ponderosa is a full-service mill that will fill any of your timber needs, they are extremely friendly and customer oriented.

Matt was fantastic and the service, the quality of their work, the patience he expressed in all of my changing decisions were unparalleled. I had concerns about the legs of the table, they fixed it to my satisfaction. I was waiting up for a particular type of wood and they are one of the few, if not the only, millwork that is able to take a slice of value very large tree. My table was one piece of elm about 32“ x 8‘ with epoxy they filled into the cracks. I can’t remember his name, but he has very high quality standards. I purchased an old growth redwood slab for a coffee table and was blown away by the finished product. Ryan patiently helped me pick one out and had it finished in shop. This slab was full of surprises, amazing grain, iridescent patches, and birds eye knots. This piece is one of a kind and will definitely be a family heirloom piece! Absolutely amazing selection of wood to select from. I love walking in and looking at all the different trees. I was blown away with the old growth redwoods. Some redwoods were burnt from the California wildfires and the inside was perfect, excellent table tops. Have fun good luck

Nothing but positive experiences. We had them mill and finish a beautiful one-of-a-kind maple mantle. This inspired us to have them make a double live-edge maple dining table. Thanks so much to Ryan, Matt and Luis for their fabulous knowledge and artistry. I just wish we had a bigger home so we could get more of your fabulous work! Who knows? If you are looking for an amazing slab of wood with the support of the helpful and knowledge staff, then you came to the right place. I bought my first piece here a few months ago. My budget was somewhat on the lower- medium scale . Yet, they helped me find a beautiful piece of Sycamore slab. I purchased their service to fill the natural holes with clear epoxy filler, then I sanded and stained it at home with the Rubio Monocoat.

Today , I went there in search of a 12 foot by 16 in piece. I wanted to give up at first because the dimensions were not easy to find. The amazing staff found a slab

Customer service at its best. Eric is the best representative i've ever worked with. He walked me through the entire process of picking a slab to finishing it. I would strongly recommend this place for someone looking to work on their own project and needs guidance.

Lastly most of the wood of not all of the wood is local and when I say local I I don't mean USA local or not even CA local I mean Bay Area local so it is as green as it gets.
